The recent law passed by Tennessee Republicans has resulted in over 400 sick and disabled children losing essential care, with the added threat of being reported to ICE. This is not just a policy misstep—it is an act of sheer cruelty and inhumanity borne out of the Trump administration's disturbing approach to governance. My friend, who shares my deep disdain for Donald Trump and his policies, urged me to create this petition. We firmly believe in our collective power to initiate change, especially now that the Democrats are leading the polls in the upcoming midterm elections.

In 2023, the State of Tennessee enacted legislation that effectively cut off healthcare resources for some of the most vulnerable members of our society—children who are sick and disabled. Many of these children rely on government programs for medical support and to be stripped of this over political bureaucracy is not only heartless, but it also poses a significant risk to their wellbeing and lives.

According to [add reliable source], these children are now faced with the frightening prospect of not only losing their healthcare but also having their legal status questioned. This law prioritizes immigration status over basic human rights and protections, prioritizing political agendas over humane treatment. How can we call ourselves a just society if we allow policies that leave children in distress and at risk?

With the midterms around the corner and Democrats experiencing newfound momentum, there is an impactful window to vigorously oppose and aim to repeal damaging laws like this one. As citizens who are deeply concerned about healthcare, immigration, and social justice, it is imperative we apply pressure on Congress to act on this matter with urgency and empathy.

We must ensure that healthcare is accessible to every child regardless of their status. To achieve this, we demand that Congress take immediate steps to repeal this harmful law, hold accountable those who voted for it, and ensure protections for those affected families.

By signing this petition, you are joining a movement that adamantly opposes the cruelty and punitive measures of past policies. We need to push forward into a future where all children are safeguarded against such callous legislation, and your support can spark that change. Stand with us and demand justice for these children. Sign this petition today and let Congress know that there is no room for inhumanity in our public policy.
