It is alarming and deeply concerning that YouTube, a platform widely used and trusted by parents and caregivers worldwide, became a breeding ground for the infamous "Elsagate" controversy. Videos purportedly labelled as "child-friendly" were found to contain disturbing and inappropriate content.

As a parent, I was mortified to discover that the platform could host such unsettling content. What made it more distressing was that these videos often featured beloved fictional characters from family-oriented media, exploited in bizarre and inappropriate contexts. Alarmingly, these were shown without any legal permissions, misleading children and their caretakers into believing they were harmless entertainment.

This issue was not just limited to fictional animation but extended to channels like Toy Freaks, which centred around real-life children, raising severe concerns over potential child exploitation and abuse. With the vast amount of videos uploaded to YouTube daily, inappropriate content could easily evade YouTube's safety algorithms and unfortunately, end up on YouTube Kids—an even more secure environment.

The magnitude of YouTube's platform makes it incredibly difficult to monitor and moderate all content effectively. However, the responsibility to safeguard our children from such inappropriate and potentially harmful content still firmly rests with them. It is imperative that YouTube implements more rigorous screening processes and immediately removes such "Elsagate" videos to restore trust among its users.

YouTube must prioritize child safety by reinforcing its content moderation practices and ensuring "child-friendly" truly means safe for children. Implementing stronger measures and algorithms to detect and block content attempting to evade safety protocols is critical in preventing future exploitation of this nature.

I urge concerned parents, users, and anyone who believes in the security and innocence of childhood to support this petition. Help make YouTube a safer platform for children by signing this petition to demand immediate action towards the removal of all "Elsagate" videos.
