As a concerned citizen deeply affected by the recent decision to rename Palm Beach International Airport after Donald Trump, I believe it is imperative to revert the airport's name back to its original status. This renaming is not just an insult to the people of Florida and its founders, but it's also a reflection of a political maneuver overshadowing the values of integrity and respect our state embodies.

Palm Beach International Airport has been a significant landmark in our community, representing years of history and regional pride. It symbolizes a welcoming point not only for residents but for millions of visitors who contribute to our local economy and embrace the spirit of Florida. By renaming it after Donald Trump, a figure who has polarized the nation and whose administration's actions have been widely criticized, we are inadvertently endorsing a legacy that many of us strongly oppose.

This is personal to me because I see it as a step towards holding Donald Trump and his administration accountable for the actions that have left many of us disheartened. The divisive politics and policies during his tenure have done much to dismantle the unity and progress we've fought for in America. Renaming the airport back to its original name would be a step in repairing the damage and showing that we, the people of Florida, do not support or commemorate leaders whose actions have been societally destructive.

To restore respect, we call upon Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Legislature to consider the voice of the people and rename Palm Beach International Airport back to its rightful name. While renaming an airport may seem insignificant to some, it stands as a powerful symbol of what we, as a community, believe in—truth, justice, and a move away from divisive and destructive leadership.
