Listening to my mother, I've understood that bitumen is the essential element for repairing and maintaining the integrity of our roads. She's heartbreakingly addressed that our roads in Glenwood could collapse, exacerbating the island sinkage problem unless appropriately bitumenized. Through this petition, we seek the Fraser Coast Council's immediate action to convert our deteriorating gravel roads into bitumen roads. 

Climate change-induced global heating has exacerbated the issue, turning our roads into uncomfortable and unsafe gravel paths. In Australia, temperatures have risen by an average of 1.44°C since 1910, accelerating the decay of our roads (source: Bureau of Meteorology, Australia). However, employing bitumen, derived from the distillation of crude oil, has proven tarmac sustainability even in high-temperature environments due to its durability and water-resistance.

The Council's obligation is to provide safe and sturdy roads for Glenwood residents as well as all Australians. If neglected, our roads' continued degradation could risk serious accidents, potentially leading to sinkholes. As the residents, we are appealing to officials to fulfill their responsibilities and ensure our roads are repaired with bitumen.

 

Arborfour Rd needs urgent attention as people are unable to walk their pets and children are unable to ride their bicycles in the damp, rock-filed road.So I urge the Fraser City Council to make the roads safer for children and pets alike and allow us to safely walk on said roads. 

By achieving this, we can protect our loved ones from possible harm and, God forbid, loss. Our hope is to rally our Glenwood community and motivate others to join us.
