My grandmother's friend Julie has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a debilitating condition that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord. She has been given a prognosis of 2 to 3 years, all of which will be spent in a wheelchair. This is not just about Julie; millions around the world are suffering from this disease with no cure in sight. One such person who died from the disease was Stephen Hawking.

We believe there is hope, and that hope lies in gene-editing technology known as CRISPR. This revolutionary tool could potentially accelerate research into MND, leading to better treatments and possibly even a cure. However, this research requires funding and support.

According to MND Association, every day six people are diagnosed with MND in the UK alone (source: MND Association). Globally, hundreds of thousands live with this disease without any effective treatment options. We need companies like CSIRO or CRISPR Therapeutics to invest more into finding solutions for diseases like MND.

Improving chances of surviving MND will lead not only to more research but also towards potentially curing the disease one day. This cause is personal because we believe that everyone deserves a chance at life - Julie deserves it; millions affected by this disease deserve it.

I, myself intend to become a businessman to cure this devastating disease that Julie and hundreds of thousands of people have. My grandmother guided me on how to spell Motor Neurone Disease because I cannot spell things accurately.  But I am still learning how to do that.

 

CRISPR Therapeutics is also in the process of several Phase II/III trials which include several types of cancers and Amyloidosis which will likely be completed in mid-to-late 2024 this year.

Please sign our petition urging CSIRO or CRISPR Therapeutics to donate funds towards accelerating research for treatment improvement of those affected by Motor Neurone Disease.

 

Not only will so many people have the chance to live longer, but they will virtually be free of any symptoms  that MND causes in patients alone.
