I remember vividly the moments in my life when I was not my best self. As something of a former bully myself, I know what it means to see kids scared. Reflecting on those times, I realize the fear in their eyes and the moments of silence in response to my actions. Then, at the age of 16, I decided to change for the better. I started being nice to my friends at school and actively listening to others with respect and care. While there were a few incidents where I pushed or teased my friends, it was never severe, and I always stopped when my teachers intervened.

No child should ever face a difficult childhood due to bullies. Those who engage in bullying should be encouraged to listen to their parents and teachers and strive to be on their best behavior. I believe that if they make the effort to change, they can join forces with those they once targeted and work together to make the world a better place. In doing so, they can redeem themselves for their past behavior.

I had a friend named Brandon Gerring who, unfortunately, was expelled from our school and another for excessive bullying. However, he matured a bit as he recognized his faults. This story is a testament to the power of change and redemption. It's an opportunity to inspire others who may find themselves in similar situations.

We can all make a difference by cultivating kindness and compassion in our schools and communities. Let's create environments where children are safe, supported, and free from fear.
