Experts are already raising concerns about the proposed $200 million ballroom renovation at the White House, as former President Donald Trump has previously shown disregard for the historical significance and cultural symbols embedded in this national monument. His removal of the bust of Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office, subsequently relocating it to his private dining room, has caused outrage among many Americans. This action symbolizes not only a disrespect for one of the nation’s most revered civil rights leaders but also a broader disregard for historical and cultural preservation.

Trump’s plans to renovate the White House into a palatial ballroom, as well as his previous alteration of the Rose Garden, during his presidency are abhorrent to the legacy and work of those who built the White House over 250 years ago. The Rose Garden, a beloved space that has witnessed countless historical moments, was stripped of its vibrant display of flowers and historic trees in favor of a more sterile, monochromatic appearance. It is a dishonor to the people who meticulously planted and maintained it over the years.

The White House isn’t just a residence; it's a symbol of democracy and heritage. Plans to transform any part of it into a multi-million dollar ballroom are an affront to its historical integrity and a blatant expression of ego-driven architecture that ignores public sentiment and historical consciousness.

Public outcry is crucial at this stage to prevent any irreversible alterations to a national treasure. By forcing the restoration of the Rose Garden to its former glory, we honor and preserve the memory of the visionaries and craftsmen from the American Revolution era who constructed this iconic landmark.

We call upon the U.S Senate to act as guardians of our national heritage and oppose these plans. With enough voices united, we can ensure that the true spirit of the White House remains intact. Let us stand together in this effort to protect and preserve our national heritage. Please sign this petition to urge the Senate to intervene in halting any further renovations and to restore the beloved Rose Garden to its historical grandeur.
