The movie industry is a cornerstone of culture and entertainment worldwide, and key stakeholders within this industry, like David Ellison, hold the power to shape its future significantly. Recently, the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros has introduced potential changes that could alter this landscape profoundly. At the center of this concern is the contractual promise made by David Ellison, the CEO of Skydance Corporation, to release only 15 films annually under the newly combined Paramount-Warner Bros entity. This number is crucial, as it aligns with industry standards that have proven successful for decades, as demonstrated by powerhouses like Disney since acquiring Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Fox.

The contractual commitment was clear: to deliver 30 films per year if Warner Bros was purchased. However, maintaining this output level threatens to disrupt an already finely-tuned industry structure, demanding an unsustainable increase in production that could jeopardize film quality and financial stability for theaters and production companies alike. Historically, maintaining a 15-film output annually has been a formula for sustainable success and artistic integrity.

Disney's experience serves as a testament to this approach. By methodically releasing a select number of high-quality films each year, Disney has not only managed to retain its market dominance but also to uphold the quality and diversity of its cinematic offerings. Disney's model ensures that the films receive appropriate attention, marketing, and distribution, maximizing their cultural impact and profitability.

The expansion to 30 films annually threatens to overwhelm audiences, dilutes marketing efforts, and strains distribution networks. Moreover, it undermines the artistry and craftsmanship that go into each film, potentially leading to rushed productions and compromised storytelling. The theater industry, too, faces unprecedented challenges, with many venues struggling to adapt to changing consumer habits and streaming services. Flooding the market with an excessive number of releases could saturate and destabilize this fragile ecosystem.

This is why it's crucial to urge David Ellison and Skydance Corporation to adhere to their commitment of a 15-film annual output for the Paramount-Warner Bros merger. Preserving this standard is not only beneficial for the production companies and theaters but also for audiences worldwide who thrive on quality cinematic experiences.

By signing this petition, you are advocating for the preservation of a cinematic tradition that values quality over quantity. Let us stand together to remind David Ellison of the importance of maintaining a voluntary contractual promise for the greater good of the film industry. Together, we can ensure that the art of filmmaking remains vibrant, sustainable, and true to its roots. Please support this cause by signing this petition to influence a decision that affects our global film culture.
