Growing up, I have always been inspired by Pocahontas, a character who embodies strength, wisdom, and the spirit of nature. The 1995 animated Disney movie captured my imagination with its touching story of understanding and friendship, set against the backdrop of Colonial America. Pocahontas' journey, her teachings of harmony and respect, and her iconic encounter with John Smith left an indelible mark on many of us. In these times, her message of unity and learning from history remains more relevant than ever.

The upcoming sequel series 'Sofia The First: Royal Magic' will feature several beloved Disney Princesses including Rapunzel, Cinderella, Jasmine, Aurora, Moana, and Elena Castillo Flores of Avalor, who will be providing guidance and wisdom to young Sofia. However, the absence of Pocahontas from this lineup is significantly felt. An appearance by Pocahontas in an episode where Sofia aids villagers in rebuilding their homes post-war would add depth and authenticity, offering a rich cultural perspective.

Casting Irene Bedard, the original voice actress, to reprise her role would not only bring authenticity but also bridge a nostalgic connection for fans who grew up watching the original film. Pocahontas' unique perspective on nature and resilience is a vital addition that would enrich the show's narrative, as she imparts a powerful lesson on reconstruction and reconciliation from her own experiences.

Including Pocahontas will celebrate diversity, acknowledge the rich cultural tapestry of Disney's universe, and inspire a new generation to embrace understanding and respect for all cultures. Let's urge Disney Junior to hear our plea and bring back Pocahontas to impart her timeless wisdom to young viewers through 'Sofia The First: Royal Magic.' Sign this petition to make a difference in how children's stories unfold on screen.
