My mother, a once vibrant woman, is now battling the debilitating conditions of Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. The pain she endures daily has cost her employment opportunities and threatens her independence. This story is not unique to my family; my cousin, uncle, a friend's mother, and even public figures like Robert Englund(Spectacular Spider-Man, Nightmare at Elm Street), Neve Campbell(The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, Scream) and Kathleen Turner(Monster House, Who Framed Roger Rabbit) are facing similar struggles.

Arthritis affects 54 million adults in the U.S., while fibromyalgia impacts an estimated 4 million (Centers for Disease Control). These diseases rob people of their livelihoods, their dreams, and their ability to live life to the fullest.

CRISPR technology offers hope. It's currently being used in trials to treat diseases such as Sickle Cell Disease, Beta-Thalassemia, Hemophilia B, several types of Cancers and Amyloidsis with promising results (National Institutes of Health). Trials for HIV treatment are expected soon. There's potential that this technology could be adapted to treat Arthritis and Fibromyalgia.

We urge health organizations and research institutions worldwide to invest in exploring CRISPR as a potential treatment option for these conditions. Let's give millions suffering from these diseases hope for a pain-free future where they can reclaim their lives from the clutches of chronic illness.
