As someone who has been researching CRISPR therapies on a daily basis, I am hopeful that we are on the brink of living in a world without HIV. The first three patients treated with this groundbreaking gene therapy experienced a rebound in their condition, prompting scientists to work tirelessly on an even stronger version of the therapy. With over 38 million people worldwide living with HIV as of 2019 (UNAIDS), it's clear that we need more effective treatments.

CRISPR-Cas9 could be our best chance at permanently curing all living patients with HIV.
