My younger brother was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was just nine years old. I've also known several classmates who have had to live with this disease. It's heartbreaking to see loved ones constantly taking insulin and being restricted in their diet choices, unable to fully enjoy life because of this condition.

CRISPR, a revolutionary gene-editing technology, is currently in clinical trials for treating diabetes. However, the approval process can be slow and tedious in countries like the US and UK. In Australia, where we reside, it might be approved by late this year - offering hope not only to my brother but millions of people living with diabetes.

According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), as of 2019 there are over 463 million adults living with diabetes worldwide; that's one in eleven adults! The IDF also estimates that by 2045 this number will rise to 700 million.

We need your help to accelerate research and development for a cure for diabetes using CRISPR technology or other promising advancements. This is not just about my brother or our friends; it's about creating a world free from the constraints of chronic diseases like diabetes.

I have previously created petitions aimed at finding cures for bile gastritis, lactose/gluten intolerance, Motor Neurone Disease, Orthostatic Intolerance, Arthritis Parkinson's Brain Tumours Fibromyalgia and cancer - all towards building a world without diseases.
