As a resident of Glenwood, it breaks my heart to see lifeless wallabies on the sides of our roads, victims of avoidable collisions. Our vibrant and unique local wildlife is under threat, and it is up to us to take preventative measures. Roo repellers offer a viable solution. For just $20, these devices can be installed on cars to emit a sound that ward-offs wallabies and other wildlife, substantially reducing the risk of fatal collisions.
There has been growing concern nationwide regarding the danger posed to wildlife by cars. Studies suggest as many as 5 million mammals are killed on Australian roads each year (source: Australian Wildlife Conservancy). A broad adoption of these repellers in Glenwood would not only protect our beloved wallabies but contribute to a nationwide effort to preserve Australia's wildlife.
This change is deeply personal to me, as the loss of any creature in our community impacts us all. A safer environment for our wildlife means a safer environment for us. The $20 spent on a repeller could save a life, and surely, that’s a price worthy of consideration.
