I am personally affected by people’s diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease, a debilitating condition that not only breaks the bones in your body but also significantly reduces life expectancy. Although I do not have it, Michael J. Fox does and he has lived with it for over 35 years. Despite these challenges, there is hope on the horizon. The Michael J. Fox Foundation has made significant strides towards potentially curing this disease by treating symptoms before they even begin to manifest.

We are living in an era where technology is more advanced than ever before and diseases such as sickle-cell disease, Motor Neurone Disease and Beta-thalassemia are beginning to become a thing of the past. This progress gives us hope for Parkinson's patients too.

CRISPR technology could be our answer to accelerating the cure for Parkinson’s Disease. This revolutionary gene-editing tool has already shown promise in tackling genetic disorders and could potentially bring us closer to a world without Parkinson’s.

The Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI), a major international study designed to help cure Parkinson's disease faster, has brought us closer than ever before to finding a cure. However, we need more support and funding for research using CRISPR technology specifically targeted at curing Parkinson’s.

Just like Michael J. Fox who became an advocate despite being diagnosed with it at 29 years old, let us all stand together against this debilitating disease and push for faster progress towards its cure using CRISPR technology.
