Council should be doing more, not less, to provide weekly waste collection and adequate rebates, rather than shifting the pain onto residents through a halved service and a token, self-funded rebate pool.
Did you do any research here council? Was there evidence to suggest 50% of red bin waste in Baw Baw, could be condensed in each individual household prior to this decision? What do you think will result in this change?
Did you weigh the option, this new system could effectively encourage more illegal dumping?!
This idea is up there with the compostable plastics being 'forced' (Aldi) into a society that won't necessarily 'compost' their plastic. I'd like your waste team to research what happens to compostable plastics that find their way into landfill (as I imagine many are ending up there).
Missed the bin collection now stuffed bin will have to sit for another 2 weeks. Or u go away and the bins can’t go out they forced to sit there for another 2 weeks don’t work. Dog poo smells out the bin for 2 weeks
Having to wait a fortnight is going to lead to more people overfilling their bins, meaning the lid won’t close and the crows will pull the rubbish apart not only making an ugly, huge mess but also harming the environment and wildlife with more litter! What do people do with the extra rubbish that doesn’t fit? Use their neighbours bin? Dump around Baw Baw? Burn it in their backyard? This is ridiculous!
