I lived in Wasaga over twenty years and plan to return!!! I don’t want to return to cement and buildings we need to preserve as best we can the true beauty and nature! I’m all for growth but not at this expense.
Growth is a two edged sword… it can be a sign of community prosperity, but the process can also be exceptionally destructive if clear cutting is tolerated. Whether we are talking large plans of subdivision or, of equal importance, the severances of the old cottage lots between Mosley and the Bay we must demand plans that prioritize tree preservation! This is an exceptionally beautiful town but it is up to us to protect it!
This park is one of the only green spaces in the area where I can take my dogs. The south has so many places and new communities seem to have much more green space so why is the only one in this area being taken away?
I think we can all see the immense value that the mission creek greenway adds to Kelowna. Imagine if we invested similarly in the rail trail! Additionally, the yellow-breasted chat is a protected species on the BC red list and has a known presence along the rail trail. I don't know enough about law to know if this construction violates the federal Species At Risk Act on paper, but it certainly does in spirit.
We love taking breaks along the wetlands to enjoy the beauty of the ecosystem and the life it supports. It would be a shame to see it destroyed for more traffic.
