Prevent agricultural land rezoning for commercial development in West Branch valley

The Issue

We are asking for your help to halt an environmentally devastating land development prospect in the West Branch Valley. Dave King has submitted an application to the CRD to rezone sections from two parcels of land currently zoned as resource /agriculture  to  special exception C 2-5 in preparation for a pending sale to Bella Coola Heli Sports for the development of a massive all season multi helicopter tourist destination. This rezoning must not be approved as the cumulative effects of all the development activities and the ongoing impacts of human activity currently in the valley, has surpassed logical carrying capacity therefor exceeding the tipping point for balanced sustainable ecosystem.  The proposed developments are ill advised and continued resource operations and commercial land development would go against the fibre of good environmental stewardship which is everyone’s responsibility and therefore must be disallowed. We need to be the voices for all the habitats, ecological and environmental.

A public meeting was held on August 27 2024 at 7:00 pm at the Tatla Lake Community Hall.

More information on the rezoning proposal is available at https://calendar.cariboord.ca/default/Detail/2024-08-27-1900-Bluff-Lake-Road (under attachments)
