Our native plants and animals suffer enough already, this AI centre will only cause harm to our land and our peoples. You are on Treaty Land…if they consulted with Indigenous communities close to/within Regina they would’ve heard us demanding to protect and respect our prairie (or what’s left of it) and STOP any development of AI centres.
Dani apoiou: Stop the Bell Fabric AI data centre from being builtAs an artist I absolutely HATE generative AI with a burning passion as it steals from people like myself and its a way for corporations to avoid paying artists, graphic designers, and other creatives for their hard work just to accumulate more money for their endless greed, art and creativity is what makes us human and what makes humans special.
Beyond the blatant disregard for the importance of human identity, data centers use an astronomical amount of water to cool the systems which is detrimental for the environment of our beautiful island. And furthermore the AI center will take an incredible amount of electricity to run which will very likely skyrocket our power bills, so if you don't care about human art you should at least care about the impact this will have on our environment and our wallets. Please sign this petition and donate if you can, I don't want this trash in our city.
Mason apoiou: Stop Nanaimo City from building AI data centresAi will destroy the indigenous lands that Canada has stolen, and poison the waters for all of us. It is stealing jobs, it is stealing creativity; and as a student of a high-school, it is stealing students motivation, literary skills, and drive to improve and do things on our own. As a victim of chantbots myself, I can confidently say I feel less skilled in my writing, my creativity, and my thoughts. As an aspiring artist I fear for the world of art and creativity because so many people use ai to make "art" that steals fom other real artist, I fear for writers who will/are being accused of using ai. I fear for the youth's who are growing up with ai constantly shoved down our throats. Constantly advertised or inserted into outer day to day, even if we try to google something, we use ai unintentionally with the AI overview, wich is wrong or provides fallacies at times.
Rebecca apoiou: Stop Nanaimo City from building AI data centresIt would pull thousands of liters of water from our reservoirs every hour, tightning the screws on the same supply that makes us chose between lawn watering and food gardens every July. If not treated correctly it would also pollute our beautiful rivers and change our ecosystem. That same water could stay in the rivers to keep the salmon eggs cool, flow through taps furing the next drought, and so much more.
Harry apoiou: Stop Nanaimo City from building AI data centresI disagree with culling birds unless there is evidence of a human health hazard. Based on what has been presented, there is no evidence of transmissible disease, and no reasonable attempt has been made for proof. Quarantine is an option if the disease needs time to show up. I remember when acres of ash trees in their prime were clear cut to control the ash borer. The clear cutting did not work. I feel this is the same type of approach and its viability is questionable.
Connie apoiou: Terminate Paul MacKinnon for the culling of Universal Ostriches' beautiful birds.I am calling on Prime Minister Carney and the CFIA to immediately stop the planned murders of 400 healthy ostriches in Edgewood, BC. This action is unethical, unnecessary, and will not be tolerated by Canadians who expect science-based and humane policies.
The CFIA has publicly stated that this depopulation effort is intended to “minimize impacts on the $6.8 billion domestic poultry industry” and protect international export access worth $1.75 billion. Let’s be clear: this is an economic agenda, not a public health emergency.
There has been no transparent evidence that these ostriches pose a risk to animal or human health. To kill healthy birds — without a clear, provable justification — for the sake of trade optics is a betrayal of both the animals and the people who care for them.
I demand a full stop to this plan, independent veterinary review, and a commitment to HUMANE, evidence-based alternatives. Canada’s animal protection laws are some of the worst in the world. Canadian's integrity depends on policies that take a clear, ethical stand.
