"Due to bad weather, the victim Steve Anthony Peterson asked Sky Combat Ace for a refund. The victim was reminded of company’s refund policy. It states that Sky Combat Ace “flights are nonrefundable inside of 48 hours. SCA is not responsible for any changes, delays or rescheduling due to unscheduled maintenance, inclement weather, the actions of independent contractors, or Acts of God.”
Sky Combat Ace crash in Nevada killed Steve Anthony Peterson and Ben Soyars, the E300 pilot. Steve Peterson “was my son’s brother-in-law that was a passenger, not a student,” Larry Delp, of Las Vegas, wrote in an email to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “He died BECAUSE OF THE GREED OF THE OWNER, Richard "Tex" Coe.” Peterson left behind a pregnant wife Leah who was expecting a baby at the time.
Here is NTSB's Factual Report on Sky Combat Ace fatal accident in Henderson, NV. Witnesses told NTSB they saw SCA's loud E300s performing "aerobatic-like" maneuvers before crashing. The report had TWO MAJOR CONCERNING FINDINGS:
1. First and foremost, the report finds the pilot had detectable levels of THC (marijuana) in his blood and tissue. The fact that Sky Combat Ace E300 pilot had any amount of an illegal substance (marijuana did not become legal in Nevada until several months after the accident) is deeply disturbing.
2. Secondly, the report calls into question if the flight operation is operated legally by CFR 14.91 and .61 (Instructional Flights), and suggests they should be legally required to hold a part 119 air carrier / commercial operator certificate and operate under the stricter 121 or 135 rules.

According to research, you're more likely to DIE from exposure to toxic pollutants in plane exhaust than in a plane crash. For years, SCA has been feeding a bunch of tourists who are ADRENALINE JUNKIES and want to experience live air combat simulation at the expense of Las Vegas residents. Sky Combat Ace was moved out of Henderson due to numerous safety and noise complaints. But unlike Henderson Executive which is located almost outside the City Limit, KVGT is located in the center of the town. SCA has modified their engines to be super loud like sports cars.
The irony is that SCA has been continuing to push the envelope and regularly place ordinary people with no flight experience in very dangerous air-combat situations.
The tourists know the risks or what they are signing up for, but what about tens of thousands of homes that are being placed underneath their flight path on a daily basis? SCA has now occupied this airspace with no opportunity for regulation or feedback from the residents. Is this the risk that the local authorities and the FAA are willing to take, even if it means that one of Sky Combat E300s crashes again, this time on top of densely populated residential neighborhoods?

According to Bradley, KVGT is the second busiest airport in the state, proffering complex airspace adjacent to both Harry Reid and Nellis Air Force Base. The airspace in and out of North Las Vegas is condensed, and features many pilots learning to fly.

- Pilots / schools are violating FAR 91.119B Minimum Safe Altitudes:Over any congested area of a city, town, or settlement, or over any open air assembly of persons, an altitude of 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle within a horizontal radius of 2,000 feet of the aircraft.
- Sky Combat has modified their aircraft to be in violation of Part 36 Noise Standards and Airworthiness Certification.
- Violating Part 91.303 Aerobatic Flight:No person may operate an aircraft in aerobatic flight —(a) Over any congested area of a city, town, or settlement ;(b) Over an open air assembly of persons;(c) Within the lateral boundaries of the surface areas of Class B, Class C, Class D, or Class E airspace designated for an airport;(d) Within 4 nautical miles of the center line of any Federal airway;(e) Below an altitude of 1,500 feet above the surface; or(f) When flight visibility is less than 3 statute miles.
Keep in mind that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been calling for stricter oversight of Sky Combat Ace and other touring businesses after several deadly crashes in recent years. Sky Combat Ace is operating under rules for "passenger-carrying operations", which fall under a lot less restrictive regulations than airlines do. We live in middle of a desert and there’s plenty of open space around and they can easily be moved to outskirt of the city like Jean airport. So far, the airport, the FAA and local authorities have been REFUSING to listen or take any actions against the perpetrators and move low flying planes (that belong to flight schools and touring businesses, some registered outside NV) to Jean airport.

In the past few months, the residents' noise/safety complaints to the airport has directly gone into a black hole, never to be seen or acknowledged again. The general opinion in the area is that complaints to the FAA are routed to the same trash bin. Contact Sky Combat/flight schools directly, and they send you to the airport; contact the airport and they send you to the FAA; contact the FAA and they claim that there's nothing they can do, or there is insufficient evidence to bring any reprimands or prosecution against those who are flagrantly and repeatedly violating guidelines, voluntary or no.

Keep in mind that according to Clark County Department of Aviation, Harry Reid International Airport is on a trajectory to reach its capacity of between 63 million and 65 million annual passengers by around 2030. This issue is just going to get worse and our City is in need of a a second commercial airport outside the City Limit.
It's not sensible to have an international airport in downtown rerouting all the traffic to west of the airport, spewing noise to all other residential neighborhoods, even those far away from the airport. The local authorities and the City should have thought about this problem ahead of time before building an entire City around major airports. San Fransisco prevented overflight issue and noise issue by building SFO Airport adjacent to the Bay Area so the runways are around the Bay (for taking off/landing), insulating residential homes from airplane noise.
John Wayne Airport in SoCal is located near some expensive neighborhoods. Before implantation of NextGen, They had successfully passed ordinances where planes need to climb up as fast as they can out of the airport, then cruise for 5 minutes to reduce noise, and then climb again once they are out of the City. Here in Las Vegas, low flying loud planes have become super common. At the very least, minimum altitude can be changed, considering the fact that the FAA is sending heavy traffic over densely populated residential neighborhoods, instead of diverting heavy traffic away from it.

Nextgen is FAA's Carte Blanche to send screaming jets at low altitude over densely populated residential neighborhoods. Both EPA safe noise levels and WHO recommended aircraft noise levels are obviously much lower than the FAA’s 65 dB. It's not like we are asking the authorities to solve complex issues like high inflation, high rent, poverty, rise in crime, etc, etc. This is not rocket science and we are not asking for a lot. We are asking for for a logical solution to bring peace and quiet back into our residential neighborhoods, so we can sleep and work the next day and pay for our expensive mortgages, property tax and keep the local economy going. In an attempt to shut residents up, Clark County has suggested that there is nothing anyone could do and unhappy residents should move out of their homes if they don't like noise and devastation of Sky Combat Ace and other abusive recreational pilots.
The imbalance of power, between the aviation community and the non-aviation community has only worsened. A minority (Sky Combat Ace with history of illegal substance abuse, FATAL CRASHES and major safety concerns) increasingly DOMINATES the majority in a classic inequity. This inequity is wrong. Reforms are long overdue, and require action by Congress and FAA. When will they step up and fix this?

Sky Combat Ace has been exploiting the FAA's loopholes to be able to operate in a regulatory vacuum, with little or no oversight: N466MD , N247MA, N69XT, N269KD, N21XT, N763DT, and N700DX.

"Due to bad weather, the victim Steve Anthony Peterson asked Sky Combat Ace for a refund. But little he knew that Sky Combat Ace greedy owner Richard “Tex” Coe doesn't give refunds, and flies "rain or shine". It says essentially customers must go on the flights with the company’s instructor pilots or forfeit their fare money - "FLY and DIE" is Sky Combat Ace refund policy.
The victim was reminded of company’s refund policy. It states that Sky Combat Ace “flights are nonrefundable inside of 48 hours. SCA is not responsible for any changes, delays or rescheduling due to unscheduled maintenance, inclement weather, the actions of independent contractors, or Acts of God.”
Sky Combat Ace crash in Nevada killed Steve Anthony Peterson and Ben Soyars, the E300 pilot. Steve Peterson “was my son’s brother-in-law that was a passenger, not a student,” Larry Delp, of Las Vegas, wrote in an email to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “He died BECAUSE OF THE GREED OF THE OWNER, Richard "Tex" Coe.” Peterson left behind a pregnant wife Leah who was expecting a baby at the time.
Here is NTSB's Factual Report on Sky Combat Ace fatal accident in Henderson, NV. Witnesses told NTSB they saw SCA's loud E300s performing "aerobatic-like" maneuvers before crashing. The report had TWO MAJOR CONCERNING FINDINGS:
1. First and foremost, the report finds the pilot had detectable levels of THC (marijuana) in his blood and tissue. The fact that Sky Combat Ace E300 pilot had any amount of an illegal substance (marijuana did not become legal in Nevada until several months after the accident) is deeply disturbing.
2. Secondly, the report calls into question if the flight operation is operated legally by CFR 14.91 and .61 (Instructional Flights), and suggests they should be legally required to hold a part 119 air carrier / commercial operator certificate and operate under the stricter 121 or 135 rules.

BANNED or Dismissed in other places because they have killed people, Sky combat Ace obnoxiously loud E300s pose a SERIOUS SAFETY AND FIRE HAZARD. They are routinely flying on top of NW and Summerlin communities, even in extreme heat or thunderstorms. Last time they crashed in California, they caused a brush fire burning 20 acres of land around them.

According to research, you're more likely to DIE from exposure to toxic pollutants in plane exhaust than in a plane crash. Some of these planes are decades old and emit toxic pollutants like carbon, PM2.5, and lead over vulnerable communities that include seniors, restaurants, club houses, pregnant women, children, over and over. No amount of lead is safe for children or elderly with per-existing health conditions.

General aviation BENEFITS itself while imposing large impacts upon many residents, according to FAA's own statistics, less than 5% of aviation is actually 'essential' (fire, rescue, emergency), 95% of aviation activity dumped on top of Summerlin homes is purely recreational.
Billions of dollars a year are spent to subsidize General Aviation (GA) airports and abusive GA pilots. The whole business model is fundamentally exploitative, relying on public subsidies, free airspace, golf courses, lakes, and public parks. Flight and touring businesses get a beautiful, uncontrolled, FREE playground, while residents pay property taxes, bear constant noise and fuel pollution and have to suffer LOSS OF HOME EQUITY.

Vegas Aviation registered under ACE OF SPADES AVIATION LLC flying low on top of Vegas. Vegas Aviation experienced Landing Gear Collapse and their planes sustained substantial damage to the left aileron and left wing.
In addition to constant noise, there are long-term impacts of continuous exposure to toxic aircraft emission at low altitudes. Should families wait until their loved ones turn up with elevated rates of cancer and respiratory disease in ten years, and then demand the FAA and/or Congress do something?

According to Sky Combat Ace (SCA) website, "SCA offers a truly unique aviation experience at a whole new level of adrenaline. At SCA, you’re not just a passenger on a joy ride. You are a steely-eyed fighter pilot at the controls of your very own ‘fighter jet,’ pulling Gs and squeezing the trigger to ‘get the kill.”
"Our flight tours also allow the students with no flight experience to fly and control the acrobatic plane while the instructor teaches the art of aerial dogfighting" reads the company's website.
Yes, these are the actual words of the company itself. For years, SCA has been feeding a bunch of tourists who are ADRENALINE JUNKIES and want to experience live air combat simulation at the expense of Las Vegas residents. Sky Combat Ace was moved out of Henderson due to numerous safety and noise complaints. But unlike Henderson Executive which is located almost outside the City Limit, KVGT is located in the center of the town. SCA has modified their engines to be super loud like sports cars.
The irony is that SCA has been continuing to push the envelope and regularly place ordinary people with no flight experience in very dangerous air-combat situations.
The tourists know the risks or what they are signing up for, but what about tens of thousands of homes that are being placed underneath their flight path on a daily basis? SCA has now occupied this airspace with no opportunity for regulation or feedback from the residents. Is this the risk that the local authorities and the FAA are willing to take, even if it means that one of Sky Combat E300s crashes again, this time on top of densely populated residential neighborhoods?
While the residents underneath their flight path might think their E300s are safe, Sky Combat Ace is actually playing with numbers and statistics suggesting that the risk of fatal injuries involving their planes are just one in 10,000 flights."Whether it’s aerial combat simulation, skydiving, or stunt flying, things go wrong and people will GET HURT AND DIE. It is grossly irresponsible of these businesses to continue to subject folks to such a high risk of harm, and the authorities need to step in and reconsider the wisdom, and legality, of these outfitters.” says the aviation injury attorney, lamented Bohrer.
As mentioned, SCA has had a long history of noted safety issues and concerns well documented with the FAA and NTSB.
In fact, Sky Combat Ace is operating under "passenger-carrying operations", which fall under less restrictive regulations than airlines do for things such as pilot training and maintenance. This has allowed Sky Combat Ace to EXPLOIT LOOPHOLES in FAA regulations to AVOID STRICTER OVERSIGHT.
The image below shows a normal day of air traffic in Las Vegas. 99% of the traffic at KVGT or Harry Reid is being rerouted towards the west of the airports.
The traffic at KVGT is now being DOMINATED by touring businesses like Sky Combat Ace or other similar sounding companies that were BANNED or kicked out of other places.
Low flying planes (with history of noise/safety issues) don’t belong to an affluent residential neighborhood. Pick up the phone and call your local representative and tell them to act.
FAA, the City and the airport have FAILED to implement good policies for noise mitigation and don't care about noise pollution and are unable to represent the interest of residents and the American people as a whole and only care about the airport and associated businesses.The FAA, Airport and paid specialists could not do worse of a job.
Las Vegas is the 9th busiest airport in US, however we do not have a meaningful noise mitigation.
Keep in mind that there are major safety concerns regrading north Las Vegas airport after the second collision at KVGT since July 2022.
"North Las Vegas has become a DANGEROUS AIRPORT. It is very confusing. There is high-flight training there. According to Bradley, KVGT is the second busiest airport in the state, proffering complex airspace adjacent to both Harry Reid and Nellis Air Force Base. The airspace in and out of North Las Vegas is condensed, and features many pilots learning to fly.
The residents west of KVGT also believe that CHANGES CANNOT WAIT AND THERE ARE LIVES AT STAKE. Keep in mind that there is terrain around and many of these low flying planes are dangerously maneuvering over residential homes west of KVGT and adding to the built-up of traffic here.
EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO CONTACT THE CITY AND THE FAA. CHANGE WILL ONLY COME WHEN WE ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS AND HOLD THE CITY, THE FAA, THE AIRPORT AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES ACCOUNTABLE.

Some of these low flying planes are in violation of:
- Pilots / schools are violating FAR 91.119B Minimum Safe Altitudes:Over any congested area of a city, town, or settlement, or over any open air assembly of persons, an altitude of 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle within a horizontal radius of 2,000 feet of the aircraft.
- Sky Combat has modified their aircraft to be in violation of Part 36 Noise Standards and Airworthiness Certification.
- Violating Part 91.303 Aerobatic Flight:No person may operate an aircraft in aerobatic flight —(a) Over any congested area of a city, town, or settlement ;(b) Over an open air assembly of persons;(c) Within the lateral boundaries of the surface areas of Class B, Class C, Class D, or Class E airspace designated for an airport;(d) Within 4 nautical miles of the center line of any Federal airway;(e) Below an altitude of 1,500 feet above the surface; or(f) When flight visibility is less than 3 statute miles.
Keep in mind that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been calling for stricter oversight of Sky Combat Ace and other touring businesses after several deadly crashes in recent years. Sky Combat Ace is operating under rules for "passenger-carrying operations", which fall under a lot less restrictive regulations than airlines do. This has allowed Sky Combat Ace to exploit loopholes in FAA regulations in order to avoid stricter oversight. Sky Combat Ace advertising itself as an “adrenaline rush package” and other thrill-seeking rides, DOES NOT sound like a flight school. “This is one of the most egregious examples of exploiting a loophole, in my opinion,” board member Jennifer Homendy said After Sky Combat California crash.
The engine of Sky Combat E300s and Blue Air Training Corp are modified to sound like loud sports cars.
This will have a negative impact on house prices, no one would want to pay for an overly priced home in a neighborhood with loud aerobatic planes flying over all the time.
This is a free country and people can do what they like but they shouldn’t do it over settlements or in a way that disturbs others, definitely not with complete and total impunity to harm our basic quality of life. We live in middle of a desert and there’s plenty of open space around and they can easily be moved to outskirt of the city like Jean airport. The local authorities should be able to represent the interest of the area as a whole, not just the airport and associated businesses.
So far, the airport, the FAA and local authorities have been REFUSING to listen or take any actions against the perpetrators and move low flying planes (that belong to flight schools and touring businesses, some registered outside NV) to Jean airport.
The FAA is allowing American citizens to be exposed to unsafe levels of plane noise.

The authorities passing the buck to one another.
In the past few months, the residents' noise/safety complaints to the airport has directly gone into a black hole, never to be seen or acknowledged again. The general opinion in the area is that complaints to the FAA are routed to the same trash bin. Contact Sky Combat/flight schools directly, and they send you to the airport; contact the airport and they send you to the FAA; contact the FAA and they claim that there's nothing they can do, or there is insufficient evidence to bring any reprimands or prosecution against those who are flagrantly and repeatedly violating guidelines, voluntary or no.
This is the sound of regulatory inaction from all agencies and individuals responsible for regulating this kind of traffic. The regulatory bodies are not doing their job and they are letting chaos take its course by pitting neighborhoods against one another.
Keep in mind that according to Clark County Department of Aviation, Harry Reid International Airport is on a trajectory to reach its capacity of between 63 million and 65 million annual passengers by around 2030. This issue is just going to get worse and our City is in need of a a second commercial airport outside the City Limit.
It's not sensible to have an international airport in downtown rerouting all the traffic to west of the airport, spewing noise to all other residential neighborhoods, even those far away from the airport. The local authorities and the City should have thought about this problem ahead of time before building an entire City around major airports. San Fransisco prevented overflight issue and noise issue by building SFO Airport adjacent to the Bay Area so the runways are around the Bay (for taking off/landing), insulating residential homes from airplane noise.
John Wayne Airport in SoCal is located near some expensive neighborhoods. Before implantation of NextGen, They had successfully passed ordinances where planes need to climb up as fast as they can out of the airport, then cruise for 5 minutes to reduce noise, and then climb again once they are out of the City. Here in Las Vegas, low flying loud planes have become super common. At the very least, minimum altitude can be changed, considering the fact that the FAA is sending heavy traffic over densely populated residential neighborhoods, instead of diverting heavy traffic away from it.
These two cities were the examples of flightpaths before implantation of NextGen. After implementation of NextGen, Flightpaths have changed for many Cities across US, including SFO and John Wayne. Nextgen is FAA's Carte Blanche to send screaming jets at low altitude over densely populated residential neighborhoods. But if there is ever a crash, these planes (depending on their size) can take out a few homes or a few blocks all together. The FAA and the so called specialists finally did it, the so called "right-turn" that sends the majority of traffic over the valley, they call it "environmental and sound project". Testing the efficiency of their toxic fuels and horrendous noise on the residents below throughout the valley. They are experimenting on us, like lab rats.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), though, safe noise levels are only 45 dB DNL for indoor noise and 55 dB DNL for outdoor noise. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends lower aircraft noise levels: 45 dB Day-Evening-Night Level (adding a 5 dB penalty for noise between 7-10 p.m.) and 40 dB at night. Both EPA safe noise levels and WHO recommended aircraft noise levels are obviously much lower than the FAA’s 65 dB. Sky Combat Ace group tours and loud E300s even exceed the FAA's noise limit of 65 dB (even at a 1000 ft).
Being annoyed or disturbed by aircraft noise is stressful. Stress increases heart rate and blood pressure. Stress increases blood levels of stress hormones. Stress causes inflammation of the blood vessel lining. in turn causing cardiovascular disease, including hypertension and heart attacks, and other adverse health effects. Scientific experts think that the evidence is strong enough to establish causality, not merely a statistical association. Epidemiological studies demonstrating these effects have been confirmed by human and animal research. The biological mechanisms are now understood at the cellular, subcellular, molecular, and genetic levels.Children are also more sensitive to damage from noise, which also interferes with learning.
It's not like we are asking the authorities to solve complex issues like high inflation, high rent, poverty, rise in crime, etc, etc. This is not rocket science and we are not asking for a lot. We are asking for for a logical solution to bring peace and quiet back into our residential neighborhoods, so we can sleep and work the next day and pay for our expensive mortgages, property tax and keep the local economy going. Tell the local authorities and regulatory bodies to govern for a change and move low flying offensive planes to Jean Airport.
