Elimination Super PAC Funding in the Electoral Process

The Issue

For the 2020 elections, enormous sums of money were spent at historic levels.  At the same time, COVID-19 has ravaged our healthcare systems and our economy.  Many Americans are without basic dignities like healthcare, jobs, and food to feed their families.  Yet, PACs and Super PACs found plenty of money to support candidate’s on both sides of the aisle.
Elected officials and political parties cannot give more than the federal limit directly to candidates. However, they can set up a Leadership PAC that makes independent expenditures. Provided the expenditure is not coordinated with the other candidate, this type of spending is not limited.
Super PACs (independent expenditure only political committees) are committees that may receive unlimited contributions from individuals, corporations, labor unions and other PACs for the purpose of financing independent expenditures and other independent political activity.  Super PAC spending in 2020 is estimated at nearly $3 billion.  How many could that amount of money help our citizens?
No longer can an average Americans afford to run for a substantive office to represent the people of common America most affected by the egregious harm done by those placed in office by the most wealthiest and least connected to middle class America.  Look no further than the devastating effects of Covid to our children, families, and economy and the career politicians who do nothing.                       While Americans suffer and worry about rent, mortgages, jobs and food; PACs and Super PACs are already gearing up to spend billions in the Georgia Senate races when so many are hurting.

Please join me in requiring our Congressional leaders in banning PAC, Super PAC and any other campaign finance loophole that places candidacy above working men and women in need.
