I wanted to share some concerns regarding the ongoing construction in our Dufferin community. It seems that the road lighting is insufficient, which can make it difficult for residents, especially those of us who don’t drive, to navigate while carrying laundry carts or other necessities.
Additionally, the construction noise at night can be pretty disruptive, and I worry about the safety of children crossing the street, particularly with the ongoing preparations for the new developments.
It would be beneficial to update the signal lights to ensure everyone's safety, as there is a risk of accidents when cars make turns. It might be worth considering pausing the project temporarily to assess how we can better address the needs of our community.
If the aim is to create a cycle lane, I hope we can find solutions that enhance Dufferin St instead of complicating it further. I appreciate the efforts to improve our area, and I’m hopeful we can collaborate on making choices that will benefit our community. Thank you for considering our feedback! City Hall should fix falling roads, such as the Dovercourt and Hallam areas. Or another street that needs more repairing, not Dufferin St
How can Dufferin St residents live with no stopping, no unloading groceries, no accommodation for tradespeople to maintain our homes, no opportunity for tenants to move in and out, and then we all stare at the RED LANE as a reminder that required living conditions are enjoyed buy everyone else except those of us who live on Dufferin St? Rationality would have to agree that this is not part of a definition of community living!
This is an important heritage building. The land was granted to Captain John Powell who fought with the British in the Indian Department in the American Revolutionary War. The house was occupied by his son, William Powell and family. He was a Captain in the 3rd Lincoln Militia, and fought valiantly throughout the War of 1812, including at the Battle of Frenchman's Creek. Heritage needs to be protected.
