It surprising how much use a good skate park gets in a community. There are more skateboarders around than people realize, whole families sometimes, kids AND their parents, who want a place to ride together. And it's often a major draw for shore towns. People like to plan family trips to a fun family-oriented shore area that also has a skatepark. Having a boardwalk in the area with food and rides and games and a beach, AND a skatepark would really help with area tourism
I’m from bayville nj but I grew up skating seaside with my friends and so many others we made it our California in some sense like skating Venice beach but there’s no skatepark we got kicked out of every spot we could think of that is skatable people get upset I totally understand cause we shouldn’t skate there but if there was a skatepark not only would it benefit my friends but so many people and buisness bmx scooter roller blades skateboards it should be for all of those thank you for taking the time to read this hope you have a good day
We need to normalize skate parks. They are looked down upon far too often. Commuties need skate parks to give an outlet and get kids and adults off the couch. Commuties that build skate parks, in turn, build their community. Here from Skaters Over 30 FB group.
Some people think of skateparks as noisy hangouts for teenage troublemaker. As an “aging skater” that started skating again in my 40s, I have discovered that they are actually a healthy, creative place for a vibrant, welcoming community of all ages. Think outside the constraints of organized sports - the skatepark will get most use than nearly any other athletic facility. If noise is a concern (when isn’t it?), consider a custom concrete park instead of a noisy pre-fab park.
I think a skatepark would be a great addition to the town for recreational activity that is not centered around alcohol consumption and partying. I believe that's in line with the family friendly theme that Seaside is trying to embody, as well as it would be a nod to the surf and skate culture found in beachtowns worldwide.
I am a teacher in Vineland. Our older students (middle and high school) need spaces to get out and move their bodies without having to join organized sports teams.
