Sexual assault refers to unwanted sexual contact or behavior imposed on another person without their consent. This includes a wide range of acts, from harassment to violent attacks, and occurs across all demographics and communities. The issue encompasses both individual incidents and systemic patterns of sexual violence that affect survivors' physical safety, mental health, and access to justice.

Sexual assault remains a widespread problem with far-reaching consequences for individuals and communities. Survivors often face barriers to reporting and accessing justice, including victim-blaming culture and limited institutional support. Recent social movements have brought increased attention to accountability gaps, particularly regarding how organizations and institutions respond to allegations and protect vulnerable populations.

Advocates use petitions to advance specific reforms, such as mandatory sexual assault prevention education in schools, improved support services for survivors, and legal changes including extended statutes of limitations. Notable campaigns have targeted institutional accountability, with petitioners demanding that companies and organizations implement robust anti-harassment policies and establish safer reporting mechanisms. Educational initiatives and calls for policy reform represent key strategies through which communities address prevention and survivor support at systemic levels.
What happing in India right now, is a crime against humanity, women should not be sacred to go outside, my sister went though the same thing, she never recovered from it.
Shawnee Schools have a decades long, SYSTRMIC issue with minimizing and covering up Child Sexual Abuse of all kinds.
It is understandable that Child Sex Abuse comitted BY a CHILD can be a difficult thing to address, BUT IT MUST BE DONE! 🤬
I am a survivor of geooming and molestation by the Bethel Band Director.
I went to Shawnee and they mishandled my case as well.
They deserve justice.
As a victim of both bullying and SA, as well as having a daughter who will attend Brunswick HS in a few years-we need administrators who will keep our kids SAFE. I can tell you an experience like the one the child went through will have life-long consequences from the attack. Justice should be equal and swift. SAFETY should be prioritized and immediate removal of the adults involved is the only way to guarantee that safety at the moment.
No excuses.
No second chances.
No leniency.
Resign? No, fire them. They intentionally tried to cover this up and "Handle it internally". Why haven't the perps been arrested? Because the school gave them time to get rid of evidence and get their stories straight.
BOE, show us you care more than when I wrote you about how vaping was out of hand at Brunswick, and I got a reply from ONE.... one of you (Thanks Mr. Young). This needs to stop and people need to be held accountable for their actions from the very top to the very bottom.
Hey. I'm a survivor of being sexually assaulted. Multiple times, on multiple occasions. This isn't any better than what happened to me. And to think that we, in the United States, are just brushing it under the rug as if it wasn't rape? It terrifies me, since that could actually happen to other forms of abuse, both sexual and otherwise. And the fact that the government is just covering their ears and pretending they can't hear is terrifying. That's why I'm signing. I don't want any more people to have to see their assaulter go out free and live their lives unpunished.
I'm a big believer in human rights. I didn't know people even had the nerve to pull tricks like this until I read this- this is rape! There is no such thing as a lesser form of sexual assault. It either is or it isn't. Black or white. If you have to sneak it by, then it is not what your partner consented to doing!!!
I’m sending along something that is very close to my heart and I hope you take a moment to read and respond to it.
This is a petition to bring long awaited justice to a dear friend of mine who has experienced what no child should have to. He was a victim of sexual assault and rape from a teacher while a minor in school. This teacher has now advanced in her career and is a professor at a local university without having to answer to her crimes.
Teachers make such an impact on our children and have the responsibility to protect and nurture their young minds. We should not stand by and allow this type of perversion to occur in our schools. Please join me in signing this petition for change. Donations are completely optional, it’s your signature that will propel this forward and allow this predator to be held accountable.
I encourage you to sign and share this with anyone who feels the same way and wants to make sure that our children are never taken advantage of. I am beyond appreciative of you and your participation in making our schools a safer place. Thank you.
I work in sexual violence prevention and know that every survivor is an expert on what they need to heal. Restorative justice is a crucial part of a society that invests in preventing and responding to violence.
