It was a huge part of her identity, and her life. She has so many stories from being a part of this band. To think something like this is really happening, and to such a talented group of people. I always loved listening and watching their performances during games and pep rallies. Many of my friends were in band and dedicated endless hours to practice while balancing school and it showed. There’s clearly a big love for music and the arts and the students deserve a space to be able to embrace and grow their interests and talents.

The program taught me some of the most important life skills such as time management, work/life balance, and is what I attribute my hard work ethic to in my 30's. Taking this program from any student would be a tragedy to our youth. Weather the Sound of Pride is 200 people big or 15 people strong, every child should have the opportunity to gain those skills through their High School years. Please fix this now!

Marching band taught me so much about my own capabilities and delivered many life lessons I still think about today. It was the first community of people I ever chose for myself, and the bonds I formed in the Sound of Pride still serve me today. I didn't go on to a musical career, but I still play the trumpet as a hobby, and routinely warm up with exercises we played in marching band that remain drilled into my head to this day. Every student at CCHS should continue to have the opportunity to choose this community for themselves if they want it. The Sound of Pride has always been a family.
