Petition updateMake Election Day a Federal Holiday in the U.S.

It's Columbus Day (current sign count 174, next goal 200)

Today is Columbus Day. It is about the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the Americas. He does have a controversial legacy due to his treatment of Natives but our country wouldn't exist today if he didn't think tocome this way. It is used as a day to celebrate Italian Americans as well. It is a federal holiday. The next federal holiday is Veterans day on November 11th. If Election Day becomes a federal holiday, it will become the next federal holiday on our calendar after Columbus Day. For me, Election day makes a little more sense as a federal holiday. We likely won't make Election day a federal holiday before the midterm elections on November 3rd but we should try our best to pass it under this new Congress and get it pased before the either the 2027 off-year of 2028 presidential elections. Best if you all get to sharing this petition. Share if you didn't already. Share if you already did. More sharing means more signatures. More signatures means more likely this is to get passed.
