The proposed gas station/convenience center will negatively increase a substantial amount of more traffic and noise to an otherwise quiet and safe home environs. I have lived here nine years and enjoy the neighborhood. This is a residential area not a commercial environment - letk’s keep it that way.
We have lived on Milburn School Road for over thirty years. As more developments and the school were built we went from being able to leave our doors and cars unlocked to theft and vandalism. We’ve watched as the farmland that feeds the world is dug up for thousands of homes. Having a gas station within two miles of our home would require us to have a plan to evacuate should there be a fire or explosion accompanied by toxic fumes. People using Milburn School Road already speed through the area, more traffic will only make that worse and result in crashes and injuries or death. The biggest reason to not allow this is the fact that within a mile and a half from this proposed complex there are two gas stations and then a Schnucks grocery store down the road. Our peaceful area needs to stay that way.
I live in Fountain Place and I do not want a gas station disrupting the quiet neighborhood, nor do I want to have to worry about additional health concerns, gambling machines, break-ins, noise, and additional traffic to this area. I did not move into a neighborhood that had a gas station attached to it - I do not want to live in a neighborhood with a gas station attached to it. There are several existing, recently updated gas stations/convenience stores less than a mile up the road. There are already enough traffic issues involved with intersections near-by. I'd much rather see additional child care facilities, or something less intrusive that is more accommodating to the residents in this area utilizing that space.
I live nearby in Savannah hills, why would anyone need another gas station? We have two right down the street and many more nearby. We should build something for the community like a dog park or a community park or something which will increase property values and community engagement, not another gas station!
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the proposed gas station development near our homes in Savannah Hills subdivision. We understand the need for convenient fuel access, but believe that the proposed location is fundamentally incompatible with the existing character and quality of life in our residential area.
Our neighborhood already enjoys a vibrant community atmosphere, enhanced by the presence of the O’Fallon community park and our neighborhood pool. These amenities contribute significantly to our residents' well-being and property values. The construction of a gas station would introduce several negative impacts, jeopardizing the peaceful environment we cherish.
Specifically, we anticipate significant increases in traffic congestion, leading to safety hazards, particularly for pedestrians and children. The constant flow of vehicles would generate considerable noise pollution, disrupting the tranquility of our homes and negatively impacting our sleep and overall quality of life. Furthermore, we are deeply concerned about the potential for air pollution from vehicle exhaust and fuel storage, exposing residents to harmful toxins and impacting the health of our community. The environmental consequences of such a development are simply unacceptable.
We urge you to reconsider the proposed location and explore alternative sites that would minimize disruption to our established community and avoid the detrimental effects on our environment and quality of life. We believe a more suitable location would serve the community's needs without compromising the wellbeing of our residents and the environment.
Sincerely,
Jeff Sholtes
