We, the concerned residents of Chandler, AZ, USA, are urging our local authorities to reject the proposal for a QuikTrip gas station to be established on land that is not even zoned for their use. This ill-conceived plan will have detrimental effects on our community and must be stopped.

1. Increased Traffic Congestion:

The proposed location of the QuikTrip gas station is in close proximity to Tudor Time, Seton Catholic Preparatory, Anderson Junior High School, and Anderson Elementary School. The addition of a busy gas station will undoubtedly lead to increased traffic congestion during peak hours when parents drop off and pick up their children. This poses a significant safety risk for students and residents alike.

2. Loitering and Potential Problems with Homeless:

Gas stations often attract loiterers who may engage in disruptive behavior or pose potential safety risks to nearby residents. Additionally, there is concern about how this establishment might attract homeless individuals seeking shelter or engaging in illegal activities around our neighborhood.

3. Incompatible Zoning Laws:

The proposed site does not meet the zoning requirements for commercial use as a gas station. Allowing this development would set a dangerous precedent by disregarding established regulations meant to protect our community's well-being.

4. Negative Impact on Property Values:

Numerous studies have shown that proximity to certain types of businesses, such as gas stations, can negatively impact property values. Allowing this inappropriate development could potentially decrease property values for homeowners in our neighborhood.

5. Rejection of Fry's Gas Station: 

The city already prohibited Fry's from opening their own gas station due to all the problems mentioned above. Why should this be any different?

We believe it is crucial for local authorities to prioritize the well-being and safety of our community over corporate interests seeking profit at any cost. We urge you, as responsible decision-makers entrusted with protecting our neighborhood's integrity, to reject the proposal for a QuikTrip gas station at this unsuitable location.

By signing this petition, we stand together against allowing an incompatible business to disrupt our community, increase traffic congestion around our schools, and potentially attract loitering and homeless individuals.
