I support this action because it's the right thing to do since this family we promised a life here in Canada after the intel they gave to our troops, putting their lives in jeopardy. Family members are already here as recent as this month, let them reside together in peace
I sure hope you never have to experience your child being a member of our forces working in a country like Afghanistan. Without the support of Afghans worked and protected our forces, if they could, your child may not come home. We also tried to help females in Afganistan have women’s rights. Now no one in Afganistan has a life because of evil men. Our country owes these people.
How can anyone support deporting a woman to a country like Afghanistan where women are not allowed to get a full education or work? Of course she should be allowed to stay. We need to set a good example to Trump's USA that Canada stands for liberty and compassion.
Godspower represents the kind of hardworking, honest person that every Canadian should aspire to emulate and I am not ashamed to say that he has been a foundational influence upon my life. He is the picture of the manly virtues of sacrifice and selflessness and it is no exaggeration to say that this country would truly be poorer without him. At a time when Canadians of good quality are needed to reinforce our communities, keeping them strong and united, we cannot afford to turn away those who wish to join our ranks. Whatever his status, Godspower IS Canadian. He has literally shed his blood, his sweat and his tears in service of people around him. CANADIAN people. If this is not enough to secure him a place among us, then what is? As Canadians we boast of welcoming with open arms those who share our values of love, acceptance and service. Do not make liars of us.
Asylum in Canada could help Abrego Garcia continue his apprenticeship in SMART-union (Sheet Metal Air Rail Transportation). SMART has many members in a number of locals in Canada. Why should Abrego Garcia lose his livelihood, an occupation with good prospects for the future, just because U.S Homeland Security is ruthlessly determined to destroy him rather than take responsibility for an error in deporting him. Canada, please help!
These programs are essential for building skills while also creating a sense of community to newcomers. Canada is a country of immigration and our cultural mosaic and we don’t want to lose that from these shortsighted cuts.
I believe that achieving full integration of newcomers into Canadian society begins with strong language and life skills—foundational elements of any skill set that supports meaningful inclusion. EAL/ESL/LINC programs have played a crucial role in helping immigrants reach their full potential and truly become part of the community.
ESL schools play a pivotal role in helping newcomers learn English, which is the key to meaningful integration. Without language skills, immigrants struggle to access education, employment, healthcare, and public services—barriers that can isolate them from the broader community. When immigrants can communicate confidently, they participate more actively in their neighbourhoods, volunteer efforts, and local economies. This fosters mutual understanding, reduces cultural divides, and builds more inclusive, cohesive communities. Canada’s economy relies on immigration for growth. ESL programs equip newcomers with the language skills needed to contribute productively in the workplace. Without these programs, many talented individuals remain underemployed, and Canada misses out on their full potential. Canada’s identity is rooted in multiculturalism and inclusion. Supporting ESL education affirms these values by giving all newcomers a fair opportunity to thrive and fully participate in the social and civic life of the country. Therefore, federal funding for ESL programs must continue if we are to expect skilled immigrants with little or no English language skills to fully integrate into our society!
I am a Ukrainian who was forced to leave my home because of the war. In Canada, I am trying to rebuild my life from scratch — I work, I pay taxes, I’m learning the language. But every day I live in uncertainty: what comes next? Going back means risking my life. But staying without PR makes it hard to build a future. We’re not asking for gifts — we’re asking for a chance. Please let us truly become part of this country. We have already chosen it with our hearts. 🇺🇦🤝🇨🇦
