Never again should mean never again for anyone. If you ignore international laws then no law has any meaning. This is a test of our humanity and we are failing
Too many innocent lives have been lost and whilst Australia is not directly involved the longer we are complicit to these atrocities the longer Australia will be impacted by intergenerational trauma from it.
Whatever a person's race, nationality, colour, creed, level of intelligence, marital status, age, gender, sexual orientation, background or religious beliefs, I strongly believe that, when it comes to fulfilling the basic human need for proper food, clean water, adequate clothing and shelter, to be treated with dignity and respect and, tying all these basic necessities together, being an integral part of a caring and sharing community where one is able to love others and to be loved in return, we are all equal. Therefore, only when all of us as global citizens understand this fundamental and essential truth about what it really means to be a part of the human race, can ALL of us be free to contribute to the common good in society - and not because he or she feels forced to! Likewise, for anybody who believes that working together for peace is very difficult, I urgently need to remind you that the cost of war (such as wholesale destruction of private property and other vital infrastructure, physical injury, psychological trauma, permanent disability, socio-economic disruption, poverty, disease, starvation and, most tragically of all, the loss of loved ones) is much, much greater!
Denying the historical and ongoing persecution of the Hazara people is deeply harmful and completely unacceptable—especially from someone in public office. Misinformation not only disrespects the victims and survivors, but also enables further violence and discrimination. We call on Zahid Safi to take responsibility, issue a public apology, and resign from parliament. Australia must stand for truth, justice, and human rights for all
As a Hazara, I am deeply hurt and disappointed by Zahid Safi’s 2021 submission. It ignores the reality of what Hazara people have gone through — decades of discrimination, violence, and persecution. His words show a clear lack of understanding, compassion, and respect for our community. I call on the Liberal Party to take a clear stand: either dis-endorse Mr. Safi or demand that he issue a full apology and withdraw from the election. We deserve leaders who stand for truth, inclusion, and human rights.
