We, members of the Iranian community in South Australia, respectfully submit this petition to express our concerns regarding the recent inclusion of the Persian Cultural Association of South Australia (PCASA) in the witness schedule of a parliamentary hearing related to a highly sensitive political and security matter.

1. Context: The 2026 Events in Iran and Their Impact on Our Community

In 2026, Iran has once again witnessed widespread unrest, protests, and severe crackdowns. These events have deeply affected Iranians around the world, including our community in Australia.

In a recent public statement, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that 32,000 people were killed during the Iranian regime’s crackdown on protesters. According to CBS News, he did not provide a source for this number, while independent sources cited in the same report estimate between 12,000 and 20,000 deaths, though exact figures remain unverified due to government restrictions and internet shutdowns.

Regardless of the precise numbers, the emotional and humanitarian impact of the 2026 events on the Iranian community is profound. In such a climate, any organisation appearing to represent Iranians must demonstrate transparency, accountability, and alignment with the community’s values.

2. Community Concerns About Representation

A significant portion of the Iranian community in South Australia does not consider PCASA to be its representative body. Concerns include:

PCASA has a very small membership base, far too limited to represent the broader Iranian population in the state.
The community was not informed about the invitation or the possibility of PCASA being listed in a political or security-related process.
PCASA has consistently described itself as non‑political, yet its name appeared in a political context without consultation.
Many community members fear that the presence of PCASA’s name in such a process may misrepresent the views of Iranians in South Australia.
3. Our Request to the Australian Parliament

With full respect for parliamentary procedures, we ask:

That the Parliament clarify on what basis PCASA was included in the witness schedule.
That it be clearly stated that PCASA does not represent the Iranian community as a whole.
That organisations be listed as representatives of the Iranian community only if they have transparent, democratic, and broad community support.
That the name of PCASA be removed or corrected in official documents if no formal confirmation of representation exists.

در یک سخنرانی اخیر، رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا، دونالد ترامپ، ادعا کرد که ۳۲٬۰۰۰ نفر در جریان سرکوب اعتراضات در ایران کشته شده‌اند. طبق گزارش CBS News، او هیچ منبعی برای این عدد ارائه نکرده است و منابع مستقل تعداد واقعی را بین ۱۲٬۰۰۰ تا ۲۰٬۰۰۰ نفر برآورد کرده‌اند، هرچند به دلیل محدودیت‌های حکومتی و قطع اینترنت، تعیین آمار دقیق دشوار است.

صرف‌نظر از رقم دقیق، بار عاطفی و انسانی این وقایع بر جامعه ما بسیار سنگین است. در چنین شرایطی، هر نهادی که ادعای نمایندگی ایرانیان را دارد یا چنین برداشتی درباره آن ایجاد می‌شود، باید شفافیت، پاسخ‌گویی و هم‌سویی با ارزش‌های جامعه را نشان دهد.

۲. نگرانی‌های جامعه درباره نمایندگی

بخش قابل توجهی از جامعه ایرانیان استرالیای جنوبی، PCASA را نماینده خود نمی‌دانند. دلایل این موضوع شامل موارد زیر است:

·       تعداد اعضای انجمن بسیار محدود است و نمی‌تواند نماینده جمعیت گسترده ایرانیان باشد.

·       جامعه هیچ‌گونه اطلاع‌رسانی درباره دعوت یا احتمال حضور نام انجمن در یک فرآیند سیاسی–امنیتی دریافت نکرده است.

·       انجمن همواره خود را غیرسیاسی معرفی کرده، اما نام آن بدون مشورت جامعه در یک زمینه سیاسی درج شده است.

·       بسیاری از ایرانیان نگران‌اند که درج نام انجمن در چنین فرآیندی، موضع جامعه ایرانیان استرالیای جنوبی را نادرست منعکس کند.

۳. درخواست ما از پارلمان استرالیا

با احترام کامل، از پارلمان درخواست می‌کنیم:

۱. روشن شود که بر چه مبنایی نام PCASA در فهرست شاهدان قرار گرفته است.

۲. به‌طور رسمی اعلام شود که PCASA نماینده کل جامعه ایرانیان نیست.

۳. تنها نهادهایی به عنوان نماینده جامعه ایرانی معرفی شوند که پشتوانه واقعی، شفاف و دموکراتیک داشته باشند.

۴. در صورت نبود تأیید رسمی از سوی انجمن یا جامعه، نام PCASA حذف یا اصلاح شود تا از هرگونه سوءبرداشت جلوگیری گردد.

۴. تعهد ما به احترام و همبستگی

این پتیشن علیه هیچ فرد یا گروهی نیست.

هدف ما:

·       حفظ اعتبار جامعه ایرانی

·       جلوگیری از سوءنمایندگی

·       اطمینان از اینکه هیچ نهادی بدون پشتوانه گسترده، به عنوان نماینده ایرانیان معرفی نشود
