During the Nakba, more than 700,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes, and over 400 villages were destroyed or depopulated. Since the 1967 war, Israel has occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza. The construction and expansion of settlements in occupied territory—explicitly prohibited under the Fourth Geneva Convention (Art. 49(6))—continue to this day, despite repeated international condemnation.
