Victories in Zoning and Development

It’s clear that even on a local level politicians, schools, elected officials do not care about local voices. I will still sing this petition because I’m tired of all the land grabs changing where multiple generations of my family lives and it impacts our daily lives. Also, just fyi the school district is lying to you about their access to money. It’s pretty easy to trace the money trail of the Kansas Dept of Education and their corrupt nature while feigning innocence…

I don’t think anyone on the street knew this was going on. If Mark had not reached out to me, I would have no idea that the zoning was potentially being changed. I’m generally against Nimbyism, but you at least have to give the community a chance to participate?and provide feedback. That did not happen here. The way “community outreach” was handled seems lazy at best and shady at worst.

Commercializing this residential area is an abhorrent idea. I’ve been a resident of 20th St for most of my life and I’ve seen what commercialization has done for the area. I’m not in anyway saying that change isn’t a good idea but please pick another location for the select few “investors” to ruin. Here’s a spot, W. Harrison next to Rizzuto’s all the way to Bellaire Dr. commercialize that instead. It needs it.

I want to express my strong concerns regarding the proposed rezoning of our residential neighborhood for a commercial property, specifically a medical facility. Our community is a family-oriented area characterized by its quiet streets, established homes, and limited commercial activity. The introduction of a medical facility would bring a significant increase in traffic, noise, and congestion that our current infrastructure is not equipped to handle. The neighborhood’s limited parking spaces would be quickly overwhelmed by the influx of patients, staff, and visitors, creating daily challenges and safety hazards for residents. Additionally, the presence of a commercial medical facility could alter the community’s character, disrupting the peaceful environment that families and long-time residents value. The increased activity could lead to higher local noise levels and potential disturbances during off-hours, adversely affecting our quality of life. Given these considerations, it is essential that we preserve the residential nature of our neighborhood. Rezoning for commercial purposes, particularly for a medical facility, is not in the best interest of the current residents. I urge local officials to carefully reconsider this proposal and to prioritize the needs of the existing community, ensuring that any future developments align with the unique character and infrastructure of our neighborhood. I myself am a physician, and I understand the want/desire to develop a facility, but this is not the area to do it. This will not only be a detriment to us that live here, but will also set a precedent that other areas in our neighborhood may also be rezoned for commercial use.

Retired here from Chicago area. Childhood dream. Been coming here since I was 9 yo. Could have lived anywhere in the country but chose quiet peaceful Fennville. If I wanted an even bigger RV park down the street I would have moved to a place like Arizona or Florida. I’m glad my parents aren’t here to see this.

I'm shocked by this proposal! 10th ave is an incredibly beautiful and peaceful street with historic trees and an old Seattle community soul. I can't believe the city would recommend multi-story development in this area, ESPECIALLY given the often cheap and ugly new construction that tends to be developed in Seattle. This would ruin Queen Anne. Please reconsider!
Caitlin supported: Oppose Proposed Dramatic Up-zoning of 10th Ave W. from McGraw to Fulton
This is one of my favorite roads of travel and sits to close to the Withlacoochee State Forest to be developed. There plenty of less rural areas that can be developed where that kind of growth belongs. This state is over crowed as it is and Brooksville does not need to become part of The Villages. We the tax payers moved here for the serenity and we the people are in charge. The elected officials work for us and need work for our concerns. Put this to a public vote and not a decision of elected people.
Thomas supported: Halt the Rezoning of Mondon Hill Rd to Preserve Rural Hernando County
Mondon Hill is not just any road but an escape from the hustle and bustle. You'll see tons of motor cycles enjoying thier country route, horses cows bee farms and donkey galore, there's no room for large RV's dump trucks etc on this road. Keep it for the residents and like minded, don't commercialize mondon hill.

One of the reasons Brooksville is so beautiful, and unique, is because of its rolling hills and countryside. Taking that away then it’s just another built up area that nobody wants to be around sucking more people into a concrete environment resulting in to depression and loss of escapism.
Hayley supported: Halt the Rezoning of Mondon Hill Rd to Preserve Rural Hernando County
We bought our home in Hernando County for the rural county that it is. This decision should be decided by voters who LIVE here.
