Last Friday, the Office of Planning and Community Development (OPCD) issued revised maps for the city related to Neighbor Centers and Transit Corridors legislation. These maps have been forwarded to the City Council for consideration in the coming months. A link is below.
As you review the maps, you will see that 10th Ave W, north of Wheeler Street, including Fulton St and Armour St (the #1 bus route path north of Wheeler), is now recommended to remain as a Neighborhood Residential (NR) zone. This is much different than the Low Rise 3 designation recommended in October 2024 that would have allowed 5-6 story condos or apartments on lots in this geography. Over 700 neighbors signed a letter to Councilmember Kettle in December 2024 stating our request to remain NR and the rationale for our ask.
Councilmember Kettle and his team have worked hard on our behalf with a focused goal of protecting and improving the historic Queen Anne Blvd. Our hard work together influenced this recommendation. Thank you for the close collaboration and outreach over many months.
We need to stay focused on zoning issues as they progress through review by a new Mayor and City Council. You can stay engaged by thanking CM Kettle for his support at Robert.Kettle@seattle.gov or contacting Nancy Giunto at n.giunto@gmail.com with questions or ideas.
