I have been to Drumheller several times . I used to live in Coronation a long time ago . Used to love the dinosaur statue by the river . Camped in Drumheller several timesI have been up in the new ones several times . Took a lot of pictures, bought postcards etc. Please don’t destroy it .That is an important of Drumheller , for our kids , relatives and friends . Hope to see and go up it this summerAge 79 years young.
We have been to drumheller 3 times and Tyra is always a delight. Having drumheller lose part of its identity as the dinosaur capital goes deeper than just a place to take tourist photos. Learning about dinosaurs goes hand in hand with learning about geography, evolution, biology, and the scientific method as a whole. What better way to excite the next generation into exploring the secrets of our history on this earth.
Like the scientists who challenged the dogma of the churchs argument that the earth is only 10,000 years old and all creatures were created perfectly, we too should challenge the arguments made by the chamber about tyra. I have searched and see little reasoning besides that it "does align with their future strategy for the area". If they had an argument for tearing down tyra they should lay out their claims and their evidence.
Is Drumheller a place unable to see nuance between industry, commerce, and wonder for children? Or can they reckon all 3 and challenge arguments based off their claims instead of the authority who voices them.
I know what a scientific community would value.
As a kid my dad would take my brothers and I to Drumheller to see the dinosaurs. Tyra was always a big part of the trip. We have photos with Tyra as a family from many years of cherished memories and adventures. Would be so sad to see it go.
I did share my voice but glad to do it again. I grew up in the Drumheller are and Tyra is such a significant part of Drumhellers history. I my kids have visited the site many many times and now their children have enjoyed the experience!!!
The city just cannot let this disappear…
