The need for a skatepark in communities around the world is a pressing issue for skaters and residents alike. Skateboarding is a popular sport and recreational activity that promotes physical activity and creativity among youth. Many petitions under this topic call for the construction of safe and accessible skateparks to provide a designated space for skaters to practice their skills and build a sense of community.
One notable petition with thousands of signatures urges local governments to allocate funds for the development of a skatepark, highlighting the lack of recreational facilities for young people. Another petition emphasizes the positive impact of skateboarding on mental health and calls for the integration of skateparks into urban planning.
Join the movement to support the creation of skateparks in your area and help provide a safe environment for skaters to thrive. Your participation can shape the future of recreational spaces and promote physical activity among youth.
As a physician dedicated to promoting exercise and overall well-being, I strongly advocate for the construction of a concrete skatepark in Fort Myers. Skateboarding and similar action sports offer dynamic, full-body workouts that enhance cardiovascular health, balance, and coordination. These activities are particularly appealing to youth, providing an alternative to traditional sports and encouraging consistent physical activity. Access to such recreational facilities is linked to higher physical activity levels and lower obesity rates among adolescents .
A well-designed skatepark serves as a safe environment for individuals to engage in these activities, reducing the risk of injuries associated with skating in unsuitable areas like streets or private properties . Moreover, skateparks foster community engagement, offering a space where individuals of all ages can connect, share experiences, and support each other’s growth. This sense of community can have positive effects on mental health, combating feelings of isolation and promoting social cohesion.
Investing in a concrete skatepark is not just about providing a recreational facility; it’s about committing to the health, safety, and unity of our community. By offering a dedicated space for physical activity, we encourage healthier lifestyles, reduce potential injuries, and strengthen community bonds.
My 28 yr old son still skates. He drives to Troy. I feel like I have already donated to this cause with all the $100 fines I paid over the years because my boys got caught skating in town. Come on City of Edwardsville, we shouldn't have to pay a dime. Put a skatepark in our town already.
Hi I'm clean and sober nowadays I'm in recovery and I just got back skating. This would be a blessing for someone like me to have somewhere to skate that I wouldn't get in trouble.
I am a 60-year-old man who has been skateboarding since the early 80s Edwardsville has all this money and all the space to build shopping centers. Why don’t we put some of that space to good use and build something for our youth the skate park would make a great addition to Edwardsville because there’s nowhere in the town to skate and all these business owners get upset that the Young‘s they’re tearing up their business well, let’s build a park for him and give them an outlet to skate. #SkateLife.
This would be great for the community. Growing up skating and riding bmx this would have been awesome! Other city’s around the area has parks and we need one too!
I’m a 53 year old male who has been skateboarding since the age of 12. Skateboarding saved my life and gave me a life worth living and lifelong friends to do it with. Please build a skatepark in Edwardsville. The closest place to skate nor is in Troy and is not that great. Build pipes , bowls and spend some of that big time tax money we spend living in Edwardsville for something good.
I believe it's imperative to provide skate parks for our youth. Skate parks provide safe areas for young people to skate. Rather than the skaters having to skate on public buildings private properties sidewalks in addition skating has a no drug culture. This is a beneficial side effect of skating. Drugs delinquency or plaguing our society. By building skate parks I believe that we will give our youth a safe place to express themselves.
This would be a great and beneficial step towards a more inclusive Cincinnati parks project. Skateboarding is a great outlet for kids and adults alike. It it physically active, creative, teaches discipline and community building. I think this would be one of the most beneficial uses of space, considering there isn’t a single skatepark within Cincinnati proper
Cincinnati needs a skatepark just like every big city needs a skatepark. An outlet for youth. A community for a culture that’s needs supported. Athletic, artistic, creative, self expression. Create a place people come to from all over to enjoy. Not only for a skatepark but for the industries that also help keep the city alive. The restaurants the entertainment etc. incorporate it into blink. Have fun creative concrete art to visually and physically enjoy for skaters and viewers alike.
