Urge City of Long Beach, CA to Construct a Skatepark in Heartwell Park

The Issue

As a resident of Long Beach, California, and an avid skateboarder, I have experienced firsthand the challenges faced by our community due to the lack of sufficient skateboarding facilities in our area of town. My son and I, along with many other families in our area, are forced to travel outside of Long Beach just to enjoy our favorite pastime. With numerous families moving in District 5, it is clear that there is a pressing need for more local recreational amenities.

Skateparks in Long Beach have proven extremely successful. However, District 5 remains underserved with only El Dorado skatepark nearby - a facility that is too small and outdated to meet the needs of our growing community. Heartwell East at the corner of Carson and Woodruff presents itself as an ideal location for developing a new skate spot. This large under-utilized grassy area could be transformed into a vibrant hub for both older and younger skaters.

By building this new skatepark in Heartwell Park, we would not only provide much-needed recreational space but also foster social interaction among residents while promoting physical activity within our community.

We urge the city officials of Long Beach to consider this proposal seriously and take action towards constructing this new skatepark in Heartwell Park. It's time we catered better for all residents' needs within District 5 – let's make this happen! Please sign this petition if you support building a new skate spot at Heartwell East.
