Skatepark supporters,
The Daniel Carter Beard Bridge (I-471) over Sawyer Point opened last week, a full month ahead of schedule. This is great news for the Cincinnati area and it means that discussions about the future of the playground (or skatepark) in Sawyer Point are moving ahead of schedule.
The Cincinnati Parks department said that the playground will be moved, and while there is clear momentum for a skatepark/skate spot under the bridge, they want more input from the community.
If you support a skatepark/skate spot at Sawyer Point, here are two ways to let Cincinnati Parks know this week:
- In-person: You can speak at the next Park Board Meeting this Thursday, February 20th at 9AM at Cincinnati Parks Administration in Eden Park (950 Eden Park Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45202). Get there before 9AM and ask to fill out a Speaker Request Card at the front desk to provide 2 minutes of public comment at the start of the meeting. Public comment usually lasts only 15-20 minutes.
- Email: You can send an email by Wednesday, February 19th at 5PM to the Board of Park Commissioners (cincy.parks@cincinnati-oh.gov) with "Public Comment: (2/19/25)" in the subject line. Your email will be included in the official public record of the meeting and posted on the Parks website with meeting minutes.
The Cincinnati Park board needs to hear from people directly. So let them know why you support skateparks and why Sawyer Point would make a great location. Note that any information submitted as a public comment is a matter of public record. More info on Park Board meetings can be found here.
Please reach out to us via Instagram or email (cincinnatiskateparkproject@gmail.com) to let us know that you plan to join us to speak/email, or if you have any questions.
Thank you for the continued support,
Cincinnati Skatepark Project
