Autism is NOT a disease. My 20-year-old son is on the spectrum. His autism has not torn our family apart. My son is in college working towards getting his AS in airplane mechanics. He also has a part-time job. She has a girlfriend who he met in fencing class. My son is a productive member of society. My son’s autism is NOT the result of being vaccinated or over vaccinated.
My husband has asperger's and our son is on the spectrum. My Both are very smart in their own unique way. They both got the autistic gene on my husband's side. My husband is really good at math, he's an accountant, pays his bills on time, and does his own taxes every year. He's really good at movie trivia. You haven't met my husband. I love my husband and son.
I happen to be aware of this misinformation about autistic people and what RFKJR will do to them to potentially control and blame families for the diagnosis of autism. Autism is not to be solved. People with autism are born to be as everyone else despite their disabilities, do activities, adulting and live the life as normal people do. The plan to "solve", creating registry must be stopped to stop the possibility of autistic people being discriminated
I am a loving mother with a child with ASD. This was absolutely misinformed and cruel. How dare you attack the ASD community and spread such lies. Step down.
I'm deeply concerned that this ends up with mathematicians and engineers forced out of their homes and their jobs just for having one word on a medical record from childhood--or that they are killed. Most people with autism are intelligent and hard-working; a bit of quirk and lack of small-talking isn't a tragedy.
My youngest grandchild is Autistic. Our family considers him a blessing. He is just turning 12. He is smart, funny ,creative and empathetic. He makes me smile even on a bad day. Someone once told me it seemed like he was a balm to my soul. He is.
He taught himself Algebra at 7 years old! He is very capable and independent. He can be obviously Autistic. He stims a lot. Yet his mainstream classroom teachers and classmates accept that is just part of him.
RFK Jr has a lot to learn!
I have autism, and I had a 3.94 GPA in undergrad and a 3.96 GPA in grad school. Before then, I successfully completed multiple AP classes in high school and passed the cumulative assessments to get extra college credits. I'm married and have a child, and I pay taxes. I became a trainer in half a year in my new job, and I have the respect of my co-workers. I am successful. My brothers are also autistic, even though my family moved around and we weren't all born in the same place. Environmental? Preventable? Please. RFK Jr. is just showing that he didn't have his eyes open growing up.
As I've posted on my personal pages.....AUTISM DID NOT DESTROY MY FAMILY ..my autistic children don't have a disease. They were created by God to be just who HE wanted them to me. My son is a working autistic adult... My daughter has made more emotional progress over the last few years than most adults and elders I have ever met. I am unofficially diagnosed by a Dr who made a comment saying I should get a diagnosis label. I don't need one .. I need people to do better and create the village that was suppose to be there like they would be if there were no diagnosis.
