As someone in animal rescue I am appalled at the things Kelly has done. From doing away with an important, life saving tool like MyCase to how she treats her employees shows how she is an incompetent leader. While never having worked under Kelly, I have worked with her. I watched as she destroyed the low cost clinic that was responsible for saving life after life through spay/neuter. I watched as she harmed her employees and systematically took them out. These were people who love animals and wanted to help them. They were passionate voices for the voiceless and Kelly decided to destroy rather than build and embrace the team she had. As a resident of Johnson County, I know the impact of her policies at IACS. The animals from Marion County and those adopted from IACS land themselves in our county shelter because where else were they supposed to go? This results in unnecessary stress and work by my county shelter to either explain why Marion County animals cannot be surrender in Johnson County or they have to get these animals to IACS or elsewhere. My own rescue regularly receives calls from folks begging for help because their shelter is forced by Kelly and her policies to send them away. It is completely illogical and unacceptable for Kelly to expect folks to endanger themselves, their family, and their own animals by taking in a stray dog for weeks with unknown temperament and disease. While the public is an instrumental part of animal welfare, they should not be expected to hold animals for weeks or be forced to release them back to the streets. I worry very much about the cats at IACS. With very little said about them now I worry very much that the policies of “put them back where you found them” and TNRing cats regardless of if the cat is able to survive outdoors are still in place. Not every cat can be released back outdoors and to assume they can will kill them. While dogs will sadly always be the primary focus of most folks, cats deserve and need a voice. What is happening to these cats? As someone in animal rescue and someone who has dedicated their life to saving cats, I implore you to not place Kelly Diamond as director. She has proven time and time again that she cares about her image and her numbers more than the animals and her employees. The animals deserve better than Kelly.
Regan supported: Reject the Appointment of Kelly Diamond as New Director of IACS
The situation currently at IACS is the worst it’s ever been. I’ve volunteered in rescue locally for 15 years and used to defend the shelter. I can No longer do that. Kelly Diamond has no compassion and should not be appointed director. They need a nation wide search to find someone CAPABLE of running a municipal shelter. Someone who cares and will do what’s best for the animals and our community.

I work in Animal Welfare at a small local shelter in Marion County. The situation is awful and since Kelly has taken over iacs it's gotten so much worse in such little time. The animals deserve so much better.

Animal sanctuaries are essential, especially as so many animals are abandoned due to neglect and the lack of spaying and neutering, which contributes to overpopulation. I fully support this sanctuary for its dedication to rescuing and rehabilitating abandoned animals, giving them a second chance at life. Through their care, these animals regain their trust, find joy again, and are given the opportunity to be placed in loving homes.
Kelly supported: Protect the Rights of Northwest Pines Animal Farm Sanctuary
I have worked in animal welfare my entire adult life and places like Northwest Pines are essential to providing places for unwanted pets. Without places like these, the number of pets euthanized would increase significantly. I have been to Northwest Pines and I believe they have a wonderful facility. The animals are well cared for and Kimberly and her husband are some of the kindest folks you will ever meet.

Mr. Leigh and Mrs. Kim Godwin, whom I met through my Apostle Dartameon Leonard a few years ago, have embodied the compassionate spirit of Christ through their unwavering love and support. This remarkable couple has opened their hearts and home to care for displaced animals, transforming their farm into a haven that is a joy to visit. The farm is especially cherished by children, including those with special needs, who find it a welcoming and enriching place. Despite receiving no financial assistance, they continue to dedicate themselves to this noble cause. I urge you to sign this petition to recognize and honor their selfless efforts, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions valued. Your support will help amplify their impact and inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

Animals rely on us and we are failing them. We need a better way to ensure medical care and LOW cost spay & neuter to help. No living being should be killed "for space" and thrown away! We must do better- our system is broken and must be fixed NOW!

I was a sponsor for Samson and Nan for 7 years, and used to visit these lovely animals every week. They are fed very well and hard working volunteers are keeping their rooms clean. They are happy beings at Kirshner’s. Please let them come home. Junko Olson

In regards to the recent allegations surrounding the Barry R. Kirshner wildlife sanctuary I can attest to the exceptional care and commitment they show towards their animals. It is important to acknowledge that all the allegations mentioned in recent articles are just that-allegations. Having spent 5 days a week volunteering at the sanctuary for nearly the past year I can attest to the exceptional care and commitment they show towards their animals. Having witnessed their operations first hand, I can confirm that the sanctuary staff consistently maintain a high standard of care. They clean every animals cage everyday, disinfect food and water bowls everyday, and ensure that each animal receives appropriate nutrition and fresh water everyday. I think it’s also important to acknowledge that this is a sanctuary not a zoo, meaning many of the animals were taken by Kirshners due to disabilities or injuries because other facilities were unable or unwilling to provide the necessary care they required. Without the sanctuary’s intervention many of the animals would have faced euthanasia. The team and Kirshners goes above and beyond, offering limitless time, love, and care to give these animals a chance at a fulfilling life. The sanctuaries efforts have allowed numerous animals to live that otherwise may not have survived. Their commitment and dedication are truly commendable and I urge everyone to please sign the petition to bring them all back home.

I visited the sanctuary with my family after being invited by a foundation volunteer some years ago. It appeared to me to be a fantastically run facility with animals that were well cared and loved for. The volunteer that invited me is very diligent and has continually spoken with commitment and care for the animals that have been saved by coming there. I am more educated because of them and have seen their commitment for over the last 10 years to this labor of love.
