After paying Petit Jean and our vehicle payment we have $96. for gas and groceries for another week before husband Social Security check come in! Something has to give!
The community in Van Buren County deserves more than this. We can’t expect this community to thrive and grow if its members can’t even afford their bills.
As a married mom of 4 - my husband being the only one working as we had a new baby in November, we cannot keep affording bills that are higher than most people’s rent/mortgage payments. Petit Jean has gotten out of control!!
kWh charge and service fees aren’t that off from other electric companies. The issue I see lies within this absorbent “debt adjustment fee”. I called PJEC and they can’t explain what this is for. They spew nonsense about customers using more energy, not true, and the quality and age of each customers home/insulation. If a person uses 3500 kWh in December and 3500 kWh in January shouldn’t those two bills be close to the same amount? Yes, they should be similar not $400+ more. Age and quality of one’s home/insulation has no relevance. I believe this “debt adjustment fee” is an attempt by PJEC to gouge its customers to try and recoup the money lost with their Fiber Optic service debacle. The AG needs to step up and insure those affected by this atrocity do not have their electricity service shut off.
My has double compared to last year, when I call they said I have probably have an appliance going out, I had all appliances checked nothing wrong with them, checking meter, can't read it, I believe something wrong with Petit Jeans meters. Last winter my bills around $400, December & January bill is $643.31 & $775.02, nothing has changed at my house & I use wood heat. Something isn't right here
We drive a semi and are rarely home. All our things get disconnected when we leave to save electricity, only the refrigerator stays on… and our bill is almost $300/month. For a refrigerator?
We've been Carroll Electric customers for 20 years and in those 20 years, I have had to call them more times in this past year than in all those previous years combined, due to price hikes and various other issues with our monthly bill. This month was almost double the price it usually is and nothing has changed! Hold the cooperatives accountable for their overreach into our pocket books!
My light bill has never gone over $250.00 to $265.90 in the colder months but has gone up to $360.00!! I live on a fixed income and this will without a doubt make changes to my medicine and food budget!
