This is a walk we’ve been doing for many many years and crossing over Giants Castle Bridge is all part of such a beautiful walk. It’s well used and we cannot afford to loose it. I walk over it yesterday and it’s seems very sturdy, so I was shocked to see the news if it’s closure.
It’s a local business that’s a great change from the usual corporate offerings. I’m personally fed up of the bullish behaviour of large corporations that fail to consider the communities within which they sit. NT should be ashamed of themselves and I’m sure a much better solution could have been found than the route they have taken.
We used to live in Rotten end and visited the tea room, nursery and gift shop probably once a week. It's beautiful setting is peaceful, the building steeped with history and the cafe superb. It's always busy with bikers, walkers and families meeting to spend time together. It cannot be closed it's simply too integral in community life.
Although I haven't visted Little Heath Farm for a while, I still have plants in my garden that I bought there. Unlike the ordinary garden centres, that all sell the same hybrids, here you could find unusual plants that were not available elsewhere. It was always a pleasure to visit. That the National Trust, of all institutions, is instrumental in ruining such a charming place is beyond belief. I am not a member of the NT, but I would have cancelled my membership because of this appaling behaviour.
In these times of high street coffee chains and garden centres that more like department stores, it was so refreshing to find such a unique place as Little Heath. Have spent many a happy hour or two there. Hoping to be able to do so again!
My daughter would take me hear for tea and cake and I loved it! Sitting outside in the summer enjoying the beautiful nursery surroundings and delightful tea and cake! This was not a 'run of the mill' garden centre like so many have become, it was a true gem of a place and what the National Trust have done is despicable! So many people love this place and we all want it back!
Little Heath has been a haven for people and nature for years. It brings peace and joy to so many people. I urge ( no- I beg) the National Trust to think about why they exist - to preserve iconic places for the present and future joy of people and to stop the decline of nature. So NT what are you doing here? Stop the corporate approach and show some humanity -just think about what misery and stress you are causing. You have the power to stop this and bring relief and joy back to a beautiful little jewel of a place.
Little Heath Farm is a vital part of Hertfordshire’s heritage and landscape. The National Trust should be protecting, not destroying, places like this. We must stand against actions that threaten our countryside, wildlife, and local history. Once lost, these treasures cannot be replaced.
this is a lovely tea room with a warm welcome, a family atmosphere, delicious cakes and in summer an attractive garden to sit in. It is a lovely out of town spot to take people. I would hate to see it close particularly if it is forced to close by the actions of a large landowner demanding money for access rights which must be longstanding. I am a National Trust supporter but hate to see it forcing small businesses to close by demanding money
