We cannot put in all of the wonderful support messages. Here are some without being selective. The picture shows what Little Heath was, people enjoying peace and tranquillity amongst the flowers, shrubs and trees.

I'm so angered and sad at what the National Trust have done to you. They have completely lost their way, Money and political correctness have become the only focus they have. Your Farm is indescribably beautiful, it is so quintessentially English takes us back to a time long gone and sadly forgotten. I will sign your petition and share on my FB and Twitter accounts. Have you set up a Go Fund Me Account? to pay the greedy beggars if all else fails and to tide you over until you can fight and defeat them? I have seen two very successful Go Fund Me's on my FB. This sort of aggression must be fought we cannot lose wonderful businesses like yours we have already lost far, far too many in this dystopian nightmare of a Country once so great.

What a waste of a peaceful & pleasant spot - please leave well alone

Appalling news! We bought plants last weekend. Against my better judgment I rejoined the NT this year after a 20 year break. I will definitely not renew.
Best wishes to get this magical site back to its former glory.

From ME

Horrified to hear the appalling news. Bureaucracy and red tape once again trampling over the common man. It is such sad news. We have so many memories of visiting and enjoying the beauty and tranquility of the countryside. Such, sad, sad news

From EK

I am so sorry to hear of your situation and shocked and appalled at the action of the National Trust. I always enjoy visiting you and have bought your lovely plants as well as 2 stone dragons! I have also enjoyed lunch and tea with you, always tempted by your fantastic cakes. We need to keep our independent nurseries and support small businesses! Is there anyone specific the NT who I could write to about this?

From SJ

this news is SO sad and the reasons even more baffling and distressing. this is such a special nursery and tea room tucked away. a beautiful place to visit and enjoy the peaceful ambience what a plant nursery should be like unlike a horrible large destination garden centre where the plants have all been commercially grown en masse and usually imported. i do hope your campaign can make NT see sense

Little Heath Nurseries is a sanctuary of peace and nature with stunning homemade food . Ot is like having a big hug every time you go. I have been going for years - it is our family’s place - we always take my mother there Mother’s Day - have been for years - and this year despite her being in a care home with dementia at 88 - we still arranged for her to go to Little Heath Nurseries and she loved it as always. It is cosy - friendly and the best tonic in this tricky world outside. I am devasted to read that National trust would even consider closing it down. It would be a massive loss to the community . Please please don’t . I feel so sad to read this. They closed the cafe down at the Monument - and opened their own. I used to go every week for years before - the home cooked food - the smallness of the business and therefore human - the new cafe is generic and limited and has no special quality. I have been once since it opened . Do not ruin another rural organic haven in nature .

My four year old granddaughter learnt so much last summer on our visits to the nursery at Heath Farm, as I did. She walked the rows of plants and learnt all about them from the nursery employees. We bought plants which she still looks after. My daughter and I were looking forward to visiting again this summer with my granddaughter and my grandson who is now walking and would have been able to walk around the rows of plants with his sister. Such a shame to lose such a perfect and interesting opportunity to teach little ones all about nature in such a perfect environment. Best of Luck

This is very sad it is such a special place. I have been visiting for many years. No doubt you have lawyers checking this claim by the NT. One thought: is Little Heath registered common land? If it is the owners of Little Heath may have registered a right of access when the land was registered - this was about 1968. You can check this with Herts County Council they hold the common land and rights register - you can see it in county archives.

From RM

I am appalled to hear that Little Heath Nursery has been forced to close. I have treasured this little spot for years - a cherished haven of horticultural loveliness hidden in Ashridge woodland, with that wonderful tea shop serving tea and cake under the grapevines, Everyone loves coming here to buy independently grown garden plants that haven't been doused with hormones (as they do at B&Q etc).
The National Trust has not showered itself in glory - local resentment of NT bullying has been growing for years, and this does them no favours. Everyone's talking about cancelling their membership!
I wish we could do something - if you set up a petition, you will be deluged with support.
And try approaching RestoreTrust.org.uk - I'm personally not in sympathy with all their more political aims, but they have many supporters and the ear of the national press.
BEST OF LUCK!

I have just seen your notice on the gate. This so upsetting - you are the best cycling cafe I know of - the ladies are so welcoming and friendly and cake is the best. I can't believe this... why would the NT do such a thing! Please let us know what we can do to help.

From BI

Tragic!! Such a loss to the village and the wider town. Hope a solution is found 🤞

From LR

So sorry to read this. I visited for the first time last week and thought I'd found a hidden gem. I would definitely have been back!  I am a member of the National Trust and shocked by this decision. What is the reason for them deciding to do this and what do they gain? Is there anything to be done to save the nursery?

From RS

I am horrified to hear of the demands of the National Trust leading to the closure of a much loved and well used nursery and tearoom. There are plants in my garden grown by the nursery that have continued to give joy for over 15 years. I have memories of my own and friends birthdays celebrated in the shade of the trees whilst enjoying delicious cakes and tea served in the joyously eclectic pots, jugs and pots from the tearoom
I feel so sad that no more memories will made it plants cultivated due to the rigid behaviour of an institution I have also supported for many years. I shall write to the NT and consider whether I want to continue to be a member of an organisation that is destroying living history not supporting it. I am so sad and sorry

From LC

Very sad at this news. Have always loved the tea room & having lunch in the magical setting of your garden. It will be much missed & is a shocking decision by The National Trust.

From FG

I can’t believe Little Heath has closed. We have spent so many happy times there, bought lovely plants and eaten delicious food and we will miss going there so much. Little Heath is such a magical place and it’s just not fair it has had to close. Can something be done to help?

From CG

I was very shocked and sorry to hear your news. It seems somewhat surprising that 420 years was not sufficient to establish customary rights. I hope things work out for you; the tearooms were a local institution

From MS

It's absolutely disgraceful what the National Trust have done, so much so that we are seriously thinking of not renewing our annual membership with them. I can't understand why they have to go out of their way to kill off small businesses like yours. Best wishes for the future

From GT

I have just heard some real sad news and hope this is not definite. Cant believe after more than 30 years we will never again visit the best tea room in England. My son Reece has just been to Potten end with his carer to be met at the tea room gate with a sign explaining the situation, sounds a very big brother move by the NT. hoping its not too late for a better outcome, all the best
