With the cost of living, housing and heating, and the general increase of cost of essentials, royalties would make it a lot easier for families to make ends meet. NG promotes the importance and security of their members, but there are a lot of members who are in desperate need of financial support. Especially regarding food security. I think (and hope that) a lot more could be done to help the members have food/financial stability.
The vouchers provided during covid made such a big difference for families and it was graciously appreciated and needed, I’m sure. And many people felt the negative effects once this program was removed.
Jennifer, supported: Secure Royalties for Nunatsiavut BeneficiariesI am a75 year old Canadian living in Brampton
My property tax was increased from $5K to 7K without any justification instead of supporting me as a senior citizen
Request reconsideration

Johnson, supported: Reduce Property Taxes in Brampton for 2025My property tax has risen by $ 984.00 per year. Such a huge hike in property taxes are very hard on our pockets. If we have to do any extra curricular activities for our kids for CAD $ 500.00 for yearly fees, we think hundred times and here the city is stealing around 1000.00 dollars on yearly basis just by increasing the property taxes! This is unacceptable
Alpa, supported: Reduce Property Taxes in Brampton for 2025As a Canadian fashion and beauty creator, I pour my heart into every piece of content I share—from styling looks to inspiring confidence and self-expression in my community. I believe creators like me deserve to be recognized, respected, and fairly rewarded for our work. We don’t just create content—we build communities, influence culture, and drive value. Canadian creators deserve better, and it’s time we stand up for that. Let’s make our voices heard.
Fatmata Bintu, supported: Canadian TikTok Creators Deserve to Be Paid! #PayCanadianCreatorsNo reason why Canadians should be excluded from trying to survive by making a living! I can't find a job WITH experience and this would provide my son and I a NORMAL life rather than live below poverty line
Sara, supported: Canadian TikTok Creators Deserve to Be Paid! #PayCanadianCreatorsThe steep increase is not justified. Mississauga has been with Peel for long time. It’s extremely hard for seniors with limited income to afford this increase.
Umesh, supported: Reduce Mississauga Property Tax Levies for 2025A property tax of $7,600 for a house that is 1800 ft2! Gross salary $60-70k, net $42-45k. A solid =7.6/43.5 = 17.5% of the income! What is going on, where is this money going? We are already struggling enough, and this is another nasty blow to knock out the ordinary citizens! Unbelievable!
Suresh Prasad, supported: Reduce Mississauga Property Tax Levies for 2025Enough is enough! In the last 5 years our property taxes were raised almost 30%. This year alone, we were hit with a record 9.2% increase, although we paid 5.9% of this increase to Peel Region, of which almost half was for policing. The policing budget was increased “a historic” 23% above last year’s increase, even though Mayor Parish and most of Mississauga’s councillors (with the exception of 3 council members) wanted to limit this to 14%. The problem being, Mississauga did not have the numbers on the Region of Peel Council, and even if all 11 councillors and the Mayor voted NO to a 23%, we would still have been outvoted.
Why is this? One reason is that Brampton benefits when we pay 62% of the police budget but they only pay 38%. Why wouldn’t you want another city to pay a sizable amount for your city’s services? This is a result of a decades-long inequitable property tax funding formula that only the provincial government can change. This formula does not make sense, especially given that Brampton’s population is now larger than Mississauga’s and by extension, their policing needs are greater.
A second reason we were outvoted is because Caledon members of the regional council get a say in how much WE pay for policing, but ironically Caledon is not supported by the Peel Police. They are supported by the OPP! Why they get a say in how much we have to pay for this service is inexplicable.
A third reason is that when it comes to the police budget, or any major decisions set out by the Region of Peel Council, the tie-breaking vote is made by none other than the Chair of that council who is also the Chair Person for the Peel Regional Police Board. We will most likely never win the numbers game on this council even if all of Mississauga City council members agreed on an issue like property tax hikes.
Peel Regional Police Services may look to hire another 300 police staff in 2026 which means Mississauga homeowners may potentially see another significant property tax hike in 2026, one that is disproportionate relative to the other two cities that make up the Peel Region.
This has to STOP! It’s egregious. Many homeowners cannot sustain these collective tax hikes, year after year, after year. It is especially difficult for those on a fixed income, like pensioners who are no longer working or earning employment income. This over-inflated taxation comes at a time when everyday costs of products and services are higher than ever, adding yet another layer of financial stress onto Mississauga residents. It will get to a breaking point, if it hasn’t already done so, that will force many to move from their homes, homes many have spent years and years to acquire and maintain. If this continues the result can only cause more housing insecurity.
We must get Doug Ford and his government to FIX the Property Tax Funding Formula once and for all so that Mississauga homeowners are not unfairly burdened with huge property tax increases.
We MUST call, email, or write letters to our municipal and provincial politicians and keep doing this until they listen. Next year’s budget decisions will be determined this fall. We must do all we can to tell the decision-makers to stop the taxation madness!
Sheri, supported: Reduce Mississauga Property Tax Levies for 2025Whats going on with City of Mississauga? Dont they know that normal folks are already struggling to make ends meet, that they hiked the taxes by 9-10%. With last years 8% hike we dont see any significant changes and there we have 9% hike again. What are these for? The qualiy of like is already degrading while taxes going up. It doesnt make any sense. Its sensible to ask for 2-4% hike but 9% for 2 consecutive years is not bearable. We have to stand up against it. Its not acceptable.
