No child or family regardless of their immigration status should be a witness or the victim of the trauma of an ice raid at a place of learning or worship...period.
My name is Sophia and i’m Mexican. This year ICE is a big problem hispanics have been scared.I go to school still and i’ve been scared for ICE to come in and take us hispanics away. But im done living in fear. SIGN THE PETITION TO HELP HISPANICS LIKE ME.
People come to America for a better life the Statue of Liberty says “ Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.” Some people could be coming because they and all who they hold dear are going to die if they say there. It is a matter of life and death for them. Also children born in America just because there parents are immigrants are getting deported put into a country they may have never been in before and they might not even know the language. I used to be proud that I am American, now, I feel ashamed and guilty. We should be a people of compassion and understanding, not going around putting up racist walls both physically and mentally. We should love people for being people instead of blaming all of our problems on immigrants.
I have my dad to thank that I still have birthright citizenship. If someone like me, from a bicultural family could feel a moment of panic about the ICE when the news came out, I can't imagine the horror at realizing you could lose everything at a moment's notice. Schools and churches at the very least should be safe havens for the children of this country, if not their own homes and communities.
Using children and ripping them from families who've been here for so long is not necessary to protect American safety. These children are our future and need to be protected. Even from our own government . There's a reason why checks and balances are meant to be a thing, to avoid us losing our rights to private locations like these.
I'm also an immigrant, not an illegal one though. But trying to imagine my temple being raided by ICE officers really scares me, and I wouldn't want anyone to have to experience it in real life.
I care because it’s inhumane to detain people who have not committed a crime or a felony and who are just trying to live a better life what they are doing is disgraceful ripping those without strength or power their rights away.
