Please Honor Laken Hope Riley With An RN License Posthumously

The Issue

Laken Hope Riley, a promising nursing student at Augusta College of Nursing, tragically lost her life on February 22, 2024. As a fellow nurse and instructor, I understand the sawqttttqqtqtt immense dedication and hard work required to pursue this noble profession. Despite not having known Laken personally, her story resonates deeply with me as we share the bond of Alpha Chi Omega sisterhood.

Laken was an exceptional student who transferred from UGA in Spring 2023. She had the potential to make significant contributions to our profession where compassionate individuals like her are greatly needed. Her life was abruptly ended while she was out for a run on the UGA campus.

In honor of Laken's commitment to nursing and her untapped potential, I am urging Governor Brian Kemp and the State of Georgia Board of Nursing to confer an honorable Registered Nurse license posthumously on Laken Hope Riley. This gesture would serve as recognition for all that she strived for in life - becoming a Real.Strong.Woman in service of others through nursing.

Let us remember Laken by celebrating what she could have achieved had her journey not been cut short so tragically. Let us honor her memory by ensuring that even in death, she continues making change – just as any dedicated nurse would aspire to do.

Please join me in urging Governor Kemp and the State Board of Nursing to honor Laken's memory with this meaningful tribute. Sign this petition today!
