Hola mi gente,
I’m proud to share that we recently took our fight to Washington D.C., right to the steps of Capitol Hill. Alongside the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), we conducted over 40 legislative visits with both House and Senate offices to rally support for the Protecting Sensitive Locations Act (H.R. 1061 & S. 455).
This legislation is vital — it would help ensure that sensitive locations like hospitals, schools, and places of worship remain safe from ICE operations. Thanks to our collective effort, we’ve now gathered 54,366+ signatures (and counting) in support. At the rally, we proudly displayed a banner reflecting this powerful number — over 50,000 voices united to keep sanctuary spaces safe.
On April 8, 2025, we held a peaceful rally outside Capitol Hill. We chanted, held up posters, raised our banner high — but most importantly, we made our voices heard.
For me, it was a deeply personal moment. To go from receiving death threats to standing on the steps of Capitol Hill — a Latina with a megaphone — was nothing short of transformational. I moved from fear to power, and I’m not looking back.
Thank you all for standing with us. Your support has meant everything.
But this is just the beginning — our work continues.
Please keep signing, sharing, and showing up. Let’s protect our communities, together.
Con fuerza y corazón,
Charissa
