I am currently claiming PIP and use my PIP money to help pay for a carer. In the next 12 months or so I expect to receive a review letter/form from the DWP. I am worried that if this new pointing system is implemented and the DWP decide that I don't qualify, what is going to happen to me? I suffer from ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, Raynauds Disease, and Arthritis amongst other things. All this stress and worry doesn't help my conditions. The thought of having to fill in the claim form is bad enough, let alone if I then had to appeal yet again.
But if I had to, I would!!
I receive PIP after having to give up work in my 50’s due to ill health. It’s a lifeline for so many of disabled people . Not a community I wanted or thought I would ever join as I had previously had good health and worked full time. Like most people I took my health for granted. It’s not until you become too ill to work and have to rely on benefits just how degrading the whole process is. PIP is the most degrading process I have ever had to go through
This petition is important to those of us who struggle to maintain independence on a daily basis in the face of chronic health problems, we deserve the right to be treated with dignity.
I am a benefits adviser working for a charity, I am appalled at these cuts to welfare for sick & disabled people, not just PIP but the sickness benefits too. These changes will plunge people into even greater poverty, increased health crisis & homelessness. It’s devastating for people already struggling with so many challenges, I am truly shocked that this is a Labour Gov
Although I am a life long Labour member, I completely disagree with these PIP reforms, I receive these payments and struggled very hard against a Conservative government that did it's utmost to prevent me getting it. I cannot believe a Labour government is doing this. Instead of looking at cuts to the vulnerable Close the tax loopholes and make the rich pay their share of the tax burden.
I am in receipt of PIP and UC. I have worked all my life but in 2017 I was diagnosed with a chronic illness. I now have 7 chronic illnesses and can no longer work.
To strip me or anyone else of our payments when we already have enough to contend with on a daily basis is wrong and it's cruel. No one chooses to be sick, no one chooses to have mental Health issues. It's unacceptable that we should be further punished due to the fact we are sick.
This government has deliberately targeted the elderly, the sick and the most vulnerable whilst inserting a new payrise for themselves. Its an absolute disgrace, why do we the people not matter anymore to this country? Its shameful and I am embarrassed about how badly run this country is. I care about this causes deeply because if we have enough money to give away in foreign aid and on illegals arriving on our shores every day then we should have enough to prioritise our elderly and sick people.
After 20 years of dedicated service as a registered health professional in the NHS, I found myself, through no fault of my own, living with multiple disabilities—some of them permanent. I had never claimed benefits before, but in recent years, I’ve had no choice. The financial support from PIP and LCWRA has been a lifeline for me, my family, and my children, as Universal Credit alone is simply not enough to survive on.
On top of the daily struggles that come with being disabled, I have also faced relentless discrimination and bureaucracy when dealing with the DWP and Universal Credit offices. I have had abrupt UC closures and overpayment notices—errors caused by DWP processes, not claimants like me—leading to constant uncertainty and distress.
Now, with the proposed cuts to disability benefits, my future and my family’s security are at risk. If I lose PIP under the new “four-point rule” in 2026 and my LCWRA payment of £416.19 is halved or removed under the UC health element changes, what financial support will be left for me,my family and young children ? These reforms will only push disabled people further into poverty, leaving us without the means to live with dignity.
Abolishing the Work Capability Assessment and restricting PIP to only the “severely disabled” is a cruel and dangerous move. Who decides what counts as “severely disabled”? Even experienced medical professionals struggle to define it, and the reality is that many of us who rely on these benefits—those who can barely walk, who need mobility aids, mental health support, specialist equipment, and daily support—will be left with nothing.
If the government needs to balance the budget, they should look elsewhere, not target the most vulnerable. Welfare benefits exist to uphold financial rights under the Equality Act 2010, not as a political bargaining chip.
That’s why I strongly support this vital campaign led by the Honourable Richard Burgon MP. We must stand together to protect the financial security and dignity of disabled people. Cutting disability support is not the answer—taxing extreme wealth is. I do not understand politics but I understand disability and the issues faced by disabled people , family and children due to my lived experience. I want our voices to be amplified and listened at the parliament and I truly wish this campaign delivers our voices through this campaign . Wishing this campaign the success it deserves.
Another example of this "Labour" government abandoning the most vulnerable in our society to please the City of London and the Treasury.Doing the work of the Tories.Tax the super rich to protect those least able in one of the richest countries in the world. As a former nurse I know what devastating impact this will have. These cuts are cruel and economically worthless.I am a lifelong Labour voter but no longer. This is an anti working class government.Did we kick out the Tories for this?
