The Issue

For too long, Greyhound Roundabout has been a significant barrier to safe and accessible travel for pedestrians and cyclists. The volume of traffic, speed of vehicles, and absence of a suitable crossing point mean that crossing the road presents a genuine safety risk.

I have been contacted by residents from across our community - including schoolchildren, disabled residents, cyclists, elderly residents, and many others - who have shared serious concerns about the challenges they face when trying to cross safely.

The current situation effectively cuts people off from local destinations, including Bents Garden Centre, nearby businesses, and neighbouring communities. For many residents, this restricts their ability to travel independently, access essential services, and participate fully in community life.

A safe pedestrian crossing would improve road safety, reconnect communities, support local businesses, while making active travel a realistic and accessible option for more residents.

I strongly support the campaign for a safe crossing at Greyhound Roundabout and will continue to press the relevant authorities to take action. Please sign this petition and help demonstrate the strength of feeling across our community.

Together, we can make the case for delivering a safe, accessible, and much-needed crossing that residents have been asking for far too long.
