Cores will be critical for the future energy transition. We have a duty to preserve them for the future. When wells are drilled it is our only chance to capture the history of our planet at that one location… to preserve that history is fundamental to interpreting and predicting scenarios for our future earth climates and living conditions. The past is the key to the present… and the future…
This is not about building ‘affordable’ housing, for community members who earn less. It’s more to do with this developer lining their pockets, and at the same time obliterating the prime agricultural land that is in question. Not to mention the vast amount of native wildlife that lives on this land.
The size of this development will totally overburden the already stressed infastructure of our small sea side town. Adding 1,200 homes means at least 2000 more cars accessing our roads. Access roads planned will create road congestion, particularly that road linking into Jamberoo Road - also it will create a very dangerous intersection.
Spring creek floods, causing road blocks to the north of this area.
Water run off from this excessive, proposed development will greatly impact the established estuary near the mouth of Spring Creek.
there is a diverse natural habitat within this development site. I, and other residents, see the huge range of wildlife which calls this area of land their safe home.
Wild birds are plentiful. Flocks of magpies, galahs, kookaburras, parrots, cockatoos, bats, crows, and small birds can be seen everyday in and around this valley.
There are and have been mobs of kangaroos and wallabies living in this development site. As well as blue tongue lizards, snakes and foxes.
It is a natural habitat which has fostered such a wonderful balanced Eco site for our Australian wild life.
Please don't destroy this for our future generations.
Once this beautiful land and landscape has been bulldozed away we will be left with another concrete mess.
There is already planned areas within this council area that could be developed without destroying this green corridor.
We are kidding ourselves if we believe that this land will be 'affordable' for first home builders. No, Kiama land prices are extremely high. Houses within the council area are already out of reach for first home owners.
Has there been any studies done to determine the following;
- impact of traffic on local roads?
-impact on water runoff into Spring Creek?
-impact of flooding onto access roads to the northern end of the development?
-impact of proposed parking in Kiama?
-impact of 1200 more families utilising the shopping precinct of Kiama?
-impact of 1200 homes requiring water supplies (Sydney Water), garbage services (Kiama Council)?
-impact of noise levels if development progresses?
-impact of 1200 families requiring medical services (Doctor's surgeries and waiting lists)?
-impact of losing prime agricultural land for ever?
The Western border of Kiama needs to be sustained.
The green belt in question needs to remain.
Spring creek eco system needs to be maintained.
Native wild life living within this greenbelt needs protecting.
1200+ homes do not need to be built here.
Please stop this development. Save our Green spaces.
We cannot lose the green wedge areas. Think of the future generations and how much we lose with the loss of our unique fauna, flora, and quiet country life.
