Rabbits are not mere objects to be bought or used for Easter. I am pretty sure there were none there when Jesus was crucified but at some point they became Easter symbols to be used and abandoned. They should not be part of events or sold during this period.

Rabbits have owned me for over 25 years (yes you read that correctly..we don’t own animals..they pick us and own us!) and I know how delicate they can be..loud noises, especially raucous children can be seriously distressing to such a small animal

I oppose the Draft Rabbit Meat Regulations. If adopted, they would have serious consequences for animal welfare, public health, and ethical standards. I oppose legitimising the farming, slaughter and sale of rabbits. Farmed rabbits suffer horribly from birth to slaughter. Rabbits are deserving of and need our protection. By widening our circle of compassion beyond those animals that we know, we begin to understand how all are deserving of better treatment and kindness.

Animals feel fear and they feel pain. They have as much right to be on this earth as humans - and like all humans they should be treated with kindness and compassion. It is therefore only correct that if we must slaughter them that it is done in the most humane way possible (if such a thing exists). We must ban non-stun slaughter. (It is possible at the same time to care about humans too.)

I have signed this petition and made a small donation. There is NO place for non-stun slaughter in the UK. We are civilised and respectful nation and we must unite to ban this barbaric religious practise. It is totally unnecessary, so religious groups who believe animals destined for the food chain aren't worthy of additional kindness and welfare, need to take a good look at their attitude towards other living beings. British citizens cannot stand by and allow such cruelty to continue. Please stand with us and sign, even if you cannot afford a donation.

No animal should have to face the fear and pain of non stun slaughter I haven’t eaten meat for forty years but realise everyone does not want to do this but slaughter should be done ethically

I am a farmer and strongly believe in humane ways of killing an animal for food, non stun and/or just slitting the animals throat to bleed out is horrific.

It disgusts me knowing that this practice is allowed to continue in 2025. Animals that are slaughtered by having their throat cut is inhumane and barbaric. To continue doing this disgusting practice takes us backwards to the Stone Age and not forward to a more humane, humble society where we can all be at peace when animals are giving up their lives for us humans to live. We cannot enter God’s Kingdom if we are cruel to his animals. We must all live as one and stand by the decisions we make, with dignity, not despair but a desire to live in peace in God’s kingdom.
